Onyango Leads 2018 WC qualifiers Match Day 3 & 4 XI Team
Onyango makes Best XI for Match Day 3 | 2018 FIFA WCQ
BY ISMAEL KIYONGA
Denis Onyango’s match winning antics against Egypt on Thursday last week have earned him a place in the Best eleven of Match Day 3 of the ongoing CAF 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The reigning African Player of the Year was in inspired form and helped Uganda earn a historic win over Egypt at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.
He made three good saves to deny Hector Cuper’s men who were raring after Emmanuel Okwi put Uganda in the lead.
In front of the Mamelodi Sundowns goalie is a three man backline that has Ivory Coast’s Serge Aurier, Mehd Benatia of Morocco and Nigeria’s Leon Balogun.
The midfield has Cape Verde’s Nuno Rocha who was instrumental as they won 2-1 against 2010 hosts South Africa, Nigerians Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Moses plus Hakim Zeyich (Morocco) and Chaalal (Tunisia).
Upfront, Seydou Doumbia (Ivory Coast) and Zambia’s Brian Mwila lead the attack.
Matchday 3 XI:
Denis Onyango (Uganda); Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast), Medhi Benatia (Morocco), Leon Balogun (Nigeria); Victor Moses (Nigeria), Wilfred Ndidi (Nigeria), Nuno Rocha (Cape Verde), Ghailene Chaalali (Tunisia), Hakim Ziyech (Morocco); Brian Mwila (Zambia), Seydou Doumbia (Ivory Coast)

I bet Ugandans wrote this crap. For countries, starved of footballing success, desperation for for cheap honours can make them cook rubbish and thrash into their regular meal.
The Onyango in question was a vampire goalie against Egypt...considering the way he flapped at crosses. Uganda was extremely lucky to come out with the win. The reverse fixture will determine whether another phony XI will concocted.

Onyango made the top goalie for the previous round too.
BTW, do you know that Uganda is the only team in the world, not to concede a goal in all the World Cup qualifiers?

Yes, I read it in the FIFA website the other day which is very good for Uganda. However, I hope such remains the case after tomorrow or whenever Uganda and Egypt clashes.Kabalega wrote:Stop hating!anointed wrote:I bet Ugandans wrote this crap. However, the coaches have gone with more attackers than usual for an away game. They are treating it like a cup final.

Cuper praises fans, Cranes keeper following victory over Uganda
By Salma Abdallah Posted on September 6, 2017
Egypt boss Hector Cuper defended his choices and praised the fans after beating Uganda 1-0 in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
Following the victory, the Pharaohs went to the top of Group E again with nine points, two ahead of second-placed Uganda. Ghana sit third with five points and Congo languish at the bottom of the group with only one point.
“Uganda keeper played an excellent game. He’s the Man of the Match and denied us several times,” Cuper said in reference to Uganda keeper Denis Onyango, who denied the Pharaohs on several occasions from doubling their lead.
The 61-year-old coach praised the Egyptian fans, estimated at 60,000, who supported the Pharaohs at Borg El-Arab Stadium.
“I acknowledge the big role of the fans today. They supported us when we started to feel tired,” Cuper said.
Cuper, who came under fire following Egypt’s 1-0 defeat to Uganda last week, admitted that he sometimes wait too long before making changes.
He made his first substitution in the 71st minute when Mahmoud Hassan Trezegeut came on instead of Stoke City winger Ramadan Sobhi. Ahmed Hassan Kouka and Saleh Gomaa came on to replace Amr Gamal and Abdallah El-Said in the 77th and 88th minute, respectively.
Amid wide criticism of Cuper’s choices, the former Inter Milan coach, who took over as Egypt coach in March 2015 and guided the Pharaohs to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final, defended his lineup choices and tactics.
“We can’t make five or six changes to the starting line up, this might lead to unexpected results. We did what what we thought was right.
“I’ve been working with these players for two and a half years. We chose a certain strategy, which might not be accepted by many people,” he added.
The Pharaohs next game will be against Congo on Sunday, October 8 at Borg El-Arab stadium, Alexandria at 19:00 CLT, while Uganda will be up against Ghana on Saturday, October 7 at Mandela National Stadium, Kampala.

Onyango makes Best XI of Africa World Cup qualifiers Match Day 4
8 HOURS AGO
BY FRANKLIN KAWERU
On every match day, it’s guaranteed Africa’s best player based on the continent Denis Onyango will pull off world class saves.
It was no different on Tuesday night as the Uganda Cranes captain made save after save in the 1-0 loss to Egypt in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier at Borg El Arab stadium in Alexandria.
And for the feat, the Mamelodi Sundowns goalie was named in the Best XI of Match Day 4 of the qualifiers.
The three man back line has Nigeria’s Leon Balogun, Stoppila Sunzu of Zambia and Egypt’s Ahmed Hegazy.
Senegal’s Sadio Mane, Ghana’s Thomas Partey – scorer of a hat trick against Congo, Nigeria’s Victor Moses and Naim Sliti of Tunisia make the four in midfield.
The three man attack has Mohamed Salah, Burkina Faso’s Alain Traore and Cape Varde’s Garry Rodriguez.

^^ You want to beat Ghana and then have them help you beat Egypt

We did them a favor and beat Egypt but they didn't take advantage of it.Robotnik wrote:^^ You want to beat Ghana and then have them help you beat Egypt
So, it would be nice for them to repay the favor.
