JOEL OBI INJURED AGAIN...
Not sure how serious it is...
But he has just been substituted in the 10th minute of the game (vs Benevento).

Re: JOEL OBI INJURED AGAIN...
My goodness! Dem swear for dis boy?!!!
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14
He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.
Gary Neville: Mirror: 12/23/14
I think Spain’s by far the best league.

Yeah, as good as he is I think he needs to be let go for his own good. Let him play for his club, no point risking his future.
Re: JOEL OBI INJURED AGAIN...
I don't think Joel's body is suited for a life of sport....plain and simple. His mind, maybe. But his body, by constitution, obviously rebels against this rigor.

Re: JOEL OBI INJURED AGAIN...
There's no such thing. It's just down to conditioning.
WE ARE ALL TOGETHER!!
Re: JOEL OBI INJURED AGAIN...
He needs a good fitness coach and probably a good physio. Probably needs too look at his warming up and warming down routines and take them seriously.

Yep! Watching the game, it appears to be his hamstring...King Futcha wrote:muscle problem according to Mihajlovic

Maybe it's just a little "knock" and he will be okay. I hope that is the case, thoughGotti wrote:Not sure how serious it is...

It's not the same injury he has been dealing with so he should heal fast.Odas wrote:Maybe it's just a little "knock" and he will be okay. I hope that is the case, thoughGotti wrote:Not sure how serious it is...

Re: JOEL OBI INJURED AGAIN...
Oh, there is. Sometimes, its by nurture, but sometimes, nature. Since I can't necessarily speak to Nature, I'd stick with nurture...Certain players have developed certain muscles over others, and their playing style puts pressure on the weaker muscles - which respond by injury. Conditioning is a part of nurture, but not as big a part as you may think.DIMKA76 wrote:There's no such thing. It's just down to conditioning.
When many people say conditioning, they seem to refer to stretching, warm ups and general fitness. That would be the first place the specialist would have told him to fix...if after all these years/injuries, that's still the issue, then he would have to be pretty dumb....and that's not my operating assumption. Matter of fact, there are some players that need to stretch more (or less) than others in other to generate the same performance...many of them don't know it....and its difficult to figure out.
Conditioning could involve more complicated issues like how does the athlete run, cut, control, build muscle; what are the activities that he is typically asked to perform on the field...he could even, dare I say, be training too much....an in depth analysis of those things could lead to an analysis of his body and if certain muscles are overdeveloped to the detriment of others....This kind of analysis is not easy...and that's why you can't just say "conditioning". I am reasonably confident that the boy takes his job seriously and trains his body at least as well as the average player...but he gets much more injuries than the average player.
Leaves me with body constitution...I don't think his body is suited for the rigors of professional soccer....if its nature, he can mitigate, but not much. If its nurture, he can fix, but he's running out of time.
There have been star players like Romario and Maradona, who are reputed to have hated training...and trained, comparatively, very little. Yet they had relatively injury free careers.....some others trained much more than them, and spent considerable periods out. Bodies are different...and some more uniquely so. My impression is that Joel has a very unique body.

Sadly, Joel Obi's career seems to have progressed in the same pattern as Chris Obodo (who was highly rated) and Obasi (who at a point was worldclass.) Too sad.

Unfortunately, injury-prone players are a reality of footballing life.
Top talents we have lost to incessant injuries include:
Jero Shakpore
Chinedu Obasi
Chris Obodo
Joel Obi
Seyi Olajengbesi
