MFM FC of Lagos forward Stephen Odey would not have been able to travel to Switzerland where he has teamed up with FC Zurich if not for the intervention of the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr.
Odey has already signed for the Swiss side but his transfer which was done on transfer deadline day failed to beat the deadline for submission of transfer details on the Transfer Machine System popularly referred to as TMS.
However it would have been a different story altogether as the 19 year old had issues in securing a visa after he filled in two different date of birth on the document he submitted during his visa application.
It took the intervention of the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr before he was granted a visa , as the coach was able to convince the officials at the embasssy that improper documentation is very normal among African footballers .
The forward who scored 18 goals for MFM FC last season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is no stranger to such controversy as the issue of disparity in his date of birth, coupled with another agent sending in his International passport with a different date of birth from the one he is presently using cost him a move to Danish side Midtjylland.
