African Player Becomes A Gem In The Dirt + Other Things

Post by themainman »

The Premier League continued this past weekend as the season gradually takes its familiar shape at the log.

Manchester clubs are keeping all engines running with the Blue side of Manchester not leaving anything behind. The Citizens put five past Crystal Palace and while defending might be a problem for them, Guardiola's men are certainly using their attack to cover it up.

Everton finally grabbed a win after a bad run, Spurs continued their better away form, and Liverpool dug in hard to ensure they left the King Power stadium with all three points. Arsenal have a Monday Night Football game against West Brom with other clubs having played earlier on Saturday due to Champions League commitments.

With not much ado, here are the five things we learnt from the Premier League this weekend.

Double Standard
Perhaps there is a double standard. Man Utd fans were upset that Jose Mourinho had to be sent out to the stands for the last few seconds of United's 1-0 win over Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium. The Red Devil's manager was ordered out for straying out of his technical area to offer encouragement to his players.

Old Trafford's faithful were quick to argue Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte happen to stray a few too many times and never get the same treatment. Is it possible the league don't just seem to like Mourinho?

Oumar Niasse
Everton's problems are well documented. They lost an excellent striker to Man Utd and failed to adequately replace him. The Toffees have struggled with goals and might have just found an answer that had been there all along.

Oumar Niasse. Not too long ago, the Senegalese striker looked destined for an exit from the club but his performance at the weekend might see him become the club's latest diamond. The former Hull City striker came on as a last throw of the dice from Koeman to grab a brace for Everton. Reports suggest the club has ordered a club suit for the player after not getting him one for the season.

Eagles On A Nose-Dive
Can anybody really save Crystal Palace? The Eagles must be regretting hiring Frank De Boer this season as the club are yet to register a point six games into the season. Even worse, the club is yet to open it goal scoring account and have already conceded thirteen already. The club was run apart by a lethal Man City side and the Eagles look to be shy of too many bold feathers.

New manager Roy Hodgson might be asking for his players not to panic but have you seen their next run of games? Away against Man Utd at Old Trafford and hosting Chelsea the following week. Trapdoor somebody?

Aguero Edges Close To Club Record
All eyes were on Sergio Aguero as the City striker aimed to overtake Eric Brook as the club's all-time leading goalscorer.

Aguero, on 175 City goals, needed two to draw level with Brook and a hat-trick to overtake him. Aguero had several chances to equal Brook's long-standing record, but was unable to get on the scorehseet until the 78 minute, when Wayne Hennessey was unable to keep out his fairly tame header.

But it's only a matter of time before Aguero is crowned City'a all-time leading scorer.
