The left/right back curse on Nigeria

Post by nzeogwu »

1994:

Eguavoen converted to right back. Cost us against Italy and Argentina. Cannigia and Baggio, respectively.
Iroha hurt against Bulgaria. Emenalo did awesome.

1998:

Jero Shakpoke got hurt. Mutiu and Oparaku exposed by Paraguay and Denmark, respectively.

2010:

Both left backs Taiwo and Echeijele did not finish the World Cup. We had to use a completely disaster Robocop at Left Back against Korea.

2014:

Echeijele gets hurt again. Juwon did his best.
Ambrose was a disaster at right back. Positioning was very suspect against Di Maria and Griezeman.

May this not happen ever again.

We need Ebuehi, Nura, Aina, Abdullahi, Ehizibue and Torunarigha. HEALTHY!!!

There's no way Ambrose performance at that World Cup would be classified as a disaster

Mutiu did well at right back. Problem was Oliseh was isolated at CM/DM.

Emenalo actually offered next to nothing going forward.. Remember Iroha overlapps and passes and was constant attacking threat and source of goals.. Emenalo was just a decent defender..
