Belgium born Nigerian forward Cyril Dessers is among a set of players under consideration for a call up to the Super Eagles camp in Morocco ahead of their clash against Algeria.

Nigeria will hold a training camp in Morocco before their dead rubber final World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Algeria, and a friendly game has been planned before the game.

Dessers has been placed under close watch by coach Gernot Rohr of the Super Eagles with the performance of the FC Utrecht forward closely been watched by scouts of the Franco-German coach.

The forward who is eligible for Nigeria and Belgium has already declared his intention to represent Nigeria despite having one call up to the Belgium U20 although he didn’t get to play.

22 year old Dessers has four goals in the first seven games of the Dutch top flight league for Utrecht, the team he joined in the summer from NAC Breda where his 22 goals haul helped the team to promotion to the Dutch first division.

depth depth depth! I'll love to see Onyekuru, Peter Olayinka, Bonaventure also!

Don't think so if he didn't play for the Belgium youth team.

no, he hasn't played for Belgium's youth team so he doesn't need to be cleared by FIFA

As long as Nigeria plays a 4;2;3;1 which is a hybrid of the 4;5;1 with twin holding midfielders, the lone center forward must be big, skillful and physical. Ball control and hold up play are vital.

Ighalo, Dessers, Abraham can do this for 90 minutes.

Kayode
Osimhen
Nacho
Dennis
Onyekuru

Will be great subs but unless they are prepared to play out wide or come in when we are searching for goals, they will not likely work in this formation.

let's not count Abraham in yet, he has to openly declare his interest to play for Nigeria and not use sneaky media stunts to leave us as some last resort options...with Cyriel dessers likely in then our depth in the attacking department will be stacked...Tammy will just be surplus to requirement even though we can't pretend we don't want him in the SE.

well time will tell if it's fake or not, but I do know for sure Rohr has him under his radar..whether or not he calls him up is up to anyone's guess.

Whats the latest on Bazee. He seems to have dropped off the radar in recent times. Is he still injured?

He has almost completed his rehabilitation. Meanwhile both Joel Obi and Nura Abdullahi are back in training with their clubs after overcoming injuries.

Aina and Shehu have the right back position on lockdown. If Aina is pushed to the left, then it leaves Ebuehi and Nura jockeying for the backup spot.

Joel will need to stay fit for the whole season to stand a chance and with his injury record, that may be a big ask. The competition is going to get tough..all good for the SE :thumb:

The most effective is Paul onuachu playing in Denmark. He is skillful, good in the air, and more clinical than the crap we currently have.

Bonaventure has scored five goals

I trust Rohr to fish out talent in the run-up to the World Cup. Knowing him, he will use the Algeria game to try out a whole raft of new players.

Because he and I think alike, I kind of know what he intends to do. I can see that Algeria game uncovering a few gems and everyone saying: "Wow, he must be in our starting line-up."

It kind of reminds the way Clemence Westerhoff brought Efan Ekoku into the team in 1994. Towards the end of the campaign, he had brought in the likes of Sunday Oliseh and Austin Okocha and after qualification also recalled Peter Rufai and Chidi Nwanu.

Like Westerhoff, Rohr knows the current squad is nowhere near good enough so is keen to find new players asap. This process starts with the Algeria game!

ROhr would go with 7 defenders to the WC.
. 4 central D
. 2 left backs
. 1 right back

for left back, its going to be Elderson and Aina (he would also deputize for the right back)
for right back position, its between Nura, Abdullai and Ebuehi. If Nura stays well, i know he would break into ROma starting 11 by Jan and it would be a tough one for ROhr to pick between either Nura or Shehu
