Can someone explain to me what MFM is ?

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC - http://www.mountaintopfc.com/2017/12/09 ... son-final/ "Mountain Of Fire and Miracles Ministries Footbal Club strolled past 36Lion with a 3-1 victory"
Mountain Top FC - http://www.mountaintopfc.com
MFM FC - https://twitter.com/mfmfc_lagos?lang=en

Did the club change it's name from MFM to Mountain Top and revert the name change? What is Mountain Top FC?

The site & your own post explain it.

MFM is Mountain of Fire Ministries, a church group in Nigeria. They (or the leader) own a football club that competes in the NPFL call MFM FC. The club was 2nd in the NPRL last year, & will be on the continent this year in the CAF Champions league.

It seems that the site is called Mountaintopfc.com. The Church names some of its non core church activities Mountain Top. They own a University called Mountain Top University for instance. Maybe that was the reason for the name of the site, or maybe it was the previous name of the club.

They are however officially called MFM FC.

FC Ifeanyiubah Win Derby, Itoya Ruins Amapakabo’s Return

FC Ifeanyiubah claimed a 2-0 win over Heartland in Sunday’s Oriental Derby in Nnewi as Imama Amapakabo’s return to Rangers with El-Kanemi Warriors ended in a 1-0 defeat in one of the matchday’s games.

Heartland came into the contest with their rivals on a poor streak of winning just twice in previous 10 league meetings while FC Ifeanyiubah have won seven of those head-to-head games.

Ekene Awazie and Pascal Seka scored a goal each for FC Ifeanyiubah to kill off any kind of resistance from the Naze Millionaires who were unlucky to see two of their attempts strike the woodwork.

The win pushes FC Ifeanyiubah into the top-half of the standings with 10 points from eight matches.

About 70 miles from the venue of the Oriental Derby, Amapakabo took charge of El-Kanemi for the first time in the NPFL since joining the club after international assignment with the Super Eagles at the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Nura Mohammed who was a member of Nigeria’s CHAN team caused Rangers all kinds of problems but failed to do the most important thing in a football game – score.

All Rangers needed to edge past Amapakabo’s men was a Kelvin Itoya perfect finish with eight minutes to time.

Promoted sides Go Round FC and Yobe Desert Stars enjoyed slim 1-0 wins over Abia Warriors and Rivers United respectively. Okon Otop scored early for Go Round while Yobe Stars left it late when Philip Asuquo converted from the spot.

A 2-1 win for Kwara United over Katsina United ensured they moved out of bottom place. Quick goals from Emeka Godwin and Stephen Alfred at the start of the second half was followed by Martins Usule’s late goal for Katsina United which proved too little, too late.

Niger Tornadoes ended their poor run of five defeats on the spin with a 1-0 win against Nasarawa United. Former Kwara United man Segun Alebiosu scored the winner.

The game between Sunshine Stars and Kano Pillars failed to produce a goal as both teams share the spoils.

Matchday 8 of the NPFL continues in Jos on Monday when Wikki Tourists play hosts to Lobi Stars.

From 16 Year Old Nura Mohammed To 15 Year Old Funom Paul, Three Others – Meet The NPFL Teenagers
February 15, 2018023
http://owngoalnigeria.com/2018/02/15/fr ... teenagers/

There seems to be a change in the way Nigerian clubs operate in terms of the composition of their team as most teams are now slowly toeing the line of including teenagers in their squad.

This season five players under the age of 18 have played for various teams in the Nigeria Professional Football League with recently turned 16 year old El-Kanemi Warriors Nura Mohammed, the most illustrious ‎among them.

Nura has already played for the senior national team of Nigeria as he was a part of the B team that finished as runners-up at the recently concluded Africa Nations Championship ( CHAN) in Morocco.

Funom Paul of newly promoted Yobe Desert Stars is the youngest of them all after making his debut three weeks ago in Owerri in their 1-1 draw against Heartland at the age of 14, although he will be 15 years old in May.

Funom Paul
Plucked from Kaduna United, the winger who is still in Secondary school made his debut for the Nigeria National League side last season after finishing as the top scorer, and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the inter secondary school competition organised by Kaduna United.

As many as seven first team players went on strike and young Funom who has trained just twice with the first team was drafted into the league squad of the NNL side alongside three other teenagers.

He made his debut against Yobe Stars, the team he now plays for as his pace, dribbling abilities and pin point crosses won the hierarchy of the team, and a deal was reached with his father to enrol him in a school before his transfer to the club was sanctioned.

In Kano, Nazifi Yahaya who was a part of the Nigeria U17 team of 2016 and Ibrahim Alhassan are the popular teenagers in the team. 16 year old Salisu Musa joined them in the first team and marked his debut by creating the second goal scored in their 2-0 win over MFM FC two weeks ago.

MFM FC are also not left out of the ‎among clubs handing teenagers a spot in their team with the duo of Emmanuel Onuh and Lawal Abayomi part of their first team set up even though they are yet to turn 17.

This current trend could mean that coach Manu Garba of the Nigeria U17 team will have some experienced teens to pick from when he assembles his next squad following his reappointment as coach of the team.
