Rohr plans to have six more friendlies before the World Cup
Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has revealed the possible dates he is hoping the Super Eagles of Nigeria will play tune up games for the World Cup.
Tomorrow’s game against Argentina will be the first warm up game for Super Eagles ahead of their campaign at next year World Cup, and according to Rohr they have more games line up next year.
Rohr in a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com said he is hoping to make use of the six available dates for friendly games before the World Cup to good effect.
Aside that he is also hoping to use days after the conclusion of the various European leagues to secure friendly games for the Super Eagles.
“It’s very good we have two games to prepare our team between November and March but it is not enough,” Rohr told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“We’ll like two games in May, two games at the start of June. We could have six games during the pre-World Cup preparation, with training sessions used as match conditions.”

They have a list of 10 Nations. All will be confirmed after the draw when we know who we have on our group.Sir V wrote:I hear we are playing Belgium and England.
One of the games will be in Abuja before the team leaves Nigeria then one will be in Russia before the tournament starts. Those last two will be strictly for tactics as by then Rohr would have named his squad.

After the draw we’ll be able to play one or the other or even both according to how they come out of the hat.Sir V wrote:I hear we are playing Belgium and England.

At least Rohr now knows what he is looking for. That Italy vs Sweden tie revealed what is required at this level.

There will normally be a match against a local side in Russia at the eve of the World Cup ie a side that we can beat by 5, 6 or 7 goals to boost confidence before the real dance starts. Most of the big countries go for matches like that.

Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

On March 24, England are playing Holland in Amsterdam then on March 27, they are playing Italy at Wembly. If the Eagles are to play England, it will be after the season ends in May, obviously, only if we are not drawn in the same group.

England are in the area I hear. It will be good to play them to boost morale before a more difficult test.Eaglezbeak wrote:Local.Tbite wrote:So England?Goldleaf wrote:There will normally be a match against a local side in Russia at the eve of the World Cup ie a side that we can beat by 5, 6 or 7 goals to boost confidence before the real dance starts.
