Re: SE's line up- courtesy of Complete Sports
With Mikel, Iwobi, Iheancho and Ogu all playing centrally (at the same time), I expect us to have a fair share of possession. It doesn't look like a counter - attacking line up...

My respect for Rohr just hit the roof. I didn’t expect him to be innovative but this shows he’s smart. I’d love to see how this works out!

This coach seems to read my mind, if we are to play the 352 the players mentioned fit the bill.
We may really go far this world with this coach. he may surpass Westerhof

Akpeyi
Awaziem - Troost Ekong - Balogun
Shehu - Ndidi - Mikel - Ogu - Aina
Iwobi - Iheanacho
I think that’s the best lineup given the players available...
However, it is likely to be a difficult night for Kelechi upfront.

Re: SE's line up- courtesy of Complete Sports
Good to see Rohr shake things up formation wise. I suspect he is trying Shehu in a role he might want Moses to play against tough opponents in the World Cup.
He already tried this a bit against Algeria, especially in the first half. Balogun kept getting wide left to cover for Aina who was going forward quite a bit (even if part of that was tracking Mahrez all over the place, although he made himself available as an attacking option when we had position)
Great to see Awaziem back. He was one of our better players against Bafana, and kept getting exposed by Echiejile. But for him and some desperate defending, the scoreline would have been much worse.
I obviously don't rate Akepyi, and I believe we have better keepers than he, Ezenwa and a 36 year old Vince who may have been out of the game at club level for a year when the from WC rolls around out there. However I'll be excited and gladly swallow all humble pies if Akpeyi proves me wrong. I've just seen too much mediocrity from him to be hopeful.
Rohr is keeping with the theme of the goals coming from any of multiple sources, and 5 of the starters will have some goal scoring responsibility with the back players (Balogun, Aina, Ekong, Shehu, Awaziem) somewhat excluded. This is however a very defensive setup against an opponent Rohr assumes is stronger than us
It should be an exciting game.
Hopefully, Nacho can break the rut in this game. Even if he doesn't score, good attempts at goal, something to lift his confidence.

Where’s Ayo?
Told him Akpeyi would most likely start.

Gotti, proving Auo wrong is not really something to be boastful about. You could prove Ayo wrong just by saying the opposite of everything he says.Gotti wrote:Where’s Ayo?

Uncle, some of these rules may need to be revisited. Sometimes it's not easy to copy and paste the content if you are using some smart phones to post. AYo finally gets his 3-5-2 wish after 17years of advocating for it.
Re: SE's line up- courtesy of Complete Sports
I still want to see Anthony Nwakaeme. We need a guy at the top that can make the ball stick and hold it up for join-up play. Kele has trouble controlling the ball and keeping possession. At best, he is a support striker lying just behind the arrowhead. Kele really has to improve on his game. He should look at Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane. They were at the same level once but they left him behind and are now miles ahead.

This line up sweet die.
It could also be a 3-4-2-1
.................. Nacho.............
........Iwobi...............Mikel.......
Aina.......Ogu........Ndidi.....Shehu
.......Balogun..Ekong..Awaziem
......................Akpeyi...................
Now Ebuehi can come in for Shehu and Idowu for Aina

We Will concede at lest one or two goals for free with that basket in goal. I can’t see any positives in fielding a goalkeeper with zero confidence. Hasn’t kept a clean sheet yet. May after tonight the bobo will join Buffon !!!!
Re: SE's line up- courtesy of Complete Sports
So it is confirmed.
Uzoho is a good few inches taller than the tallest outfield players like Ogu, Troost-Ekong and Balogun

Re: SE's line up- courtesy of Complete Sports
This is a brilliant lineup. If they play this anything as well as Chelsea does in the PL, then I see a high energy game with Mikel being the orchestra master linking the play from a central position with Ndidi and Ogu playing as the ball winners while Shehu and Aina bomb forward at every possible opportunity to support the attack. I also foresee a free roe for Iwobi and Iheanacho being instructed to shoot as often as possible.
I like this line-up and the fact the coach wants to have formation options depending on the type of opposition we face. Nice!
