As Denis Bonaventure scores again today, hmmm...

Post by Ayo Akinfe »

...Rohr will have a serious selection headache when it comes to the four wide forward places. Realistically, he can only take four such players to the World Cup.

For me, the following must go:

Victor Moses
Henry Onyekuru
Kelechi Iheanacho

Now which of the following will be the fourth member of the squad:

Denis Bonaventure
Cyriel Dessers
Anthony Nwakaeme
Noah Bazee

Rohr simply cannot afford to ignore in-form class players. He has a selection worry here.

I assume that you counted Iwobi as a midfielder

Nacho is not a wideman.

Whatever you want to say Simon Moses will be going and I agree he should go. He is very fast, a better dribbler and football brain than Musa and works very hard defensively.

Against teams like Argentina and Croatia Simon will me of more importance than Onyekuru, Iwobi because of his defensive output.

Nwakaeme is a capital NO. He had his chance and failed, too many other options to look at with so little time to give him another chance. The weak league he plays in and age are also not on his side.

Dessers has been bench material of late.

I am interested to see what Bonaventure can bring and also Bazee if he can get fit.

Bazee could be our joker.

Kelechi has played as a forward once under Rohr. He is a 9/10.

Ayo, Bonaventure is not yet relevant. Find something else to open a thread about.

Bonaventure deserves to be in the mix, kele, ighalo, Bonaventure can play in attack, while Victor moses, onyekuru, and iwobi can come in from the wings or centrally, simple and plain

Simon is ok, but we have better players, it's just that simple.

I would take Iwobi to Russia as a playmaker. I am not sure he would not be my starting playmaker but he would be in the squad. Iwobi can come on and do his thing ala Roger Milla in 94 and Julius Aghahowa in 2000.

Rohr will take 3 goalies, 8 defenders, 4 DMs, 4 AMs and 4 forwards.

The 4 CMs will be
Ndidi
Onazi
X
X

The 4 AMs will be
Mikel
Etebo
Iwobi
V Moses

The 4 forwards are going to be:

ROhr would go with 3 GKs, 7 defenders, 6 Midfielders, 7 attackers

From this, we would have
6 Midfielders: 2 DMs, 2 CMs, 2 AMs
7 attackers: 2 Strikers, 2 all round attackers, 3 wingers,

2 DMs - Ndidi, *Fake Mikel
2 CMs - Onazi, *John Ogu
2 AMs - Mikel d baba, *Etebo
2 Strikers - **Ighalo, X
2 all round attackers - Nacho, Iwobi
3 wingers - Moses, *Musa, *Simon

*PLays that would find stiff competition.
.In the DM position we have Esiti gunning for Fake Mikel's throat, even Ogu is fit for that position
.In CM, We have Joel Obi (if he stays FIT!) that would battle John Ogu. Etebo is also a great candidate for that spot.
.in AM, Etebo is clearly Rohr's backup. Is he safe with Nwakali (If he becomes super regular) and even Joel Obi able to play that spot?
.On the Wings, 2nd team playing Musa is under threat. And we have better options than Simon

**I just dont think he is good enough. Do we have better options? Lets wait till June

5 attackers should do. I would add 2 more midfielders in multi roles - back and forward.
