But if I am to predict, I'd say he and Kompany are not on the squad come August 2018.

Chief, I don't know if you have noticed, but Mangala has never played badly against United. He always ups his game against those eminent producers of manure. So far, in all the games he has played this season, he has almost never put a foot wrong, except in the last CL game against Shakhtar, where he stunk up the place (the whole team did).

It's indeed possible that he and Kompany will be gone in 2018. But in football, you never know. I did not think he would be playing for City at all this season, but here he is, doing what is demanded of him. He seems to be getting better by the game. While I still dislike Pep, he is a genius coach, and he is noted for teaching central defenders how to defend, and bringing the best out of them. So it would not surprise me if the older Otamendi, who makes a hell of a lot of mistakes and it is never commented on, is gone in August, and Mangala becomes the monster of a central defender that everyone expected when he was purchased.

But I no be coach, and like I said before, all it takes is for Mangala to make one small mistake and the laffsters and yabmeisters will come out and say, did I not tell you? In fact, in last week's game against West Ham, my brother called me from London to hoot about how useless Mangala is because Arnautovic had bumped him off the ball in the 93rd minute. This is despite Mangala having had a flawless game up to that point.

By the way, have you noticed that I conceded that Pep is a genius?

That's why some players hate Pep--the man is a serious control freak.

Chief, because, according to spastic the Waffiman of City, Pep only wants defenders who can play the ball out of defence. Manga's ball control is clearly not as good as Otamendi's, Stones' or Kompany's. However, he is a hardman in defence, and as a straight-up stopper, he is better than both Stones and Otamendi, even if spastic no gree.

He knows how far he can go with his control-freakery.
While manager Pep Guardiola was giving a dressing room speech, Backe asserts that Messi interrupted him to ask for a Coke. Pep denied the request, saying his players may not have that kind of drink before a game. Clearly in the mood for some delicious brown sugar water, Messi stood up, grabbed a Coke and drank it in front of all the players.

"It was a battle that Guardiola could not win," said Backe.

Pep, who doesn't want a straight-up shot-stopper has little time for a straight-up stopper. The guy is about total football. Everybody must be able to play. Which other coach would drop Aguero in the Manchester derby? And it could have backfired if not for those flukey goals.

We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.
Gary Neville: Mirror: 12/23/14

I think Spain’s by far the best league.
