Good grief. Other teams have squandered larger leads:

Newcastle were 12 points clear in 1996 with 3 months of the season to go. 2 months later Man Utd had overtaken them and won the league with games to spare.

Man Utd were 8 points clear in 1998. Arsenal chased them down and won the league.

Man Utd were 17 points clear in December 1993. They eventually won the league and cup double and missed out on the treble after losing the League Cup final (a game in which Andrei Kanchelskis was red carded).
