Wilfred Ndidi is class both on and off the pitch

Post by Ayo Akinfe »

Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi has been praised after seeking out a fan after the Southampton game and giving him his No.25 shirt.

Lennon Veasey had tweeted the midfielder before the game saying it was his 18th birthday this week and asked the Nigerian for his shirt.

Ndidi had tweeted Lennon, who is named after the former City star Neil, back and said he would give him the shirt after the midweek game

Lennon and his father, David, made their way to the front of the St Mary’s Stadium stand after the 4-1 victory hoping that Ndidi would pick them out.

The young star came over to the travelling fans celebrating the victory and, after scouring the faces in the stand, recognised Lennon from his Twitter picture.

Dad David said: “It was a wonderful gesture from Ndidi. What a great man he is. It is an amazing gesture and to go to the effort he did for Lennon is wonderful.

“Footballers can come in for a lot of stick over their attitude these days, but Ndidi’s efforts to recognise him and give him his shirt is exceptional.

“He deserves an awful lot of credit and we can’t thank him enough”, said David, who now lives in Torquay after moving there from Leicester.

Ndidi does not give you much offensively. He is a ball winner in the same mould as:

Nobby Stiles
Alan Mullery
Billy Bremner
Paul Ince
Gunaro Gattuso
Dieter Eilts
Claude Makalele
Ngolo Kante
Dunga
Ossie Ardiles

If you go to www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison you can compare his stats to any other player under three major categories,
1. Defensive 2. Offensive and 3. Passing.

Comparing like for like players in the same league gives the best results for obvious reasons, though you can compare his stats to others playing in La Liga or Serie A if you so wish.

Just compared his stats to Nhol Kante's.
Very interesting.
The only area in which Ngolo consistently outperforms him is in the passing dept.

That is one area that Ndidi needs to improve on. Passing is a key aspect of being a good anchorman.

His team doesn’t play a passing game, they just thump the ball forward for Vardy. Ndidi tries to pass as much as he can but that’s not their style.

Some of you are unbelievable. Was Ngolo Kante not giving the Premiership a lesson in passing when he played for Leicester? Our boy needs to improve!

The guy is an enigma. On his day I have seen him strike the ball cleaner than most strikers. Yet the stats are telling me that he hasn't even been hitting the target?

I think he has it in him to be one of the most complete midfielders in world football. Whether he displays it or not, whether he lacks it or not is something else, but he has it in him.

And time is on his side! He is the most promising player that we have, as far as I am concerned. I'd put money on his future.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

Of course he needs to improve, but he's like 20/21 and you are comparing him to a Kante that was ~24, he will improve with time, BUT my biggest thing is that this improvement might not happen at the current Leicester because of their style of play.

Ndidi is 20/21 and is better than Kante in almost every aspect, minus passing and possibly positional awareness.
If Ndidi was English he would be hyped to kingdom come...
