Shehu is not a natural right back or rwb, Ebuehi is the first choice rb/rwb if Nigeria is to make progress in the WC. Shehu did good against African teams but against Argentina it was obvious that he is not WC level. Ebuehi turned Di Maria to a junk player and Rohr cannot be as delusional as you clowns

Our people just refuse to learn anything. Sometimes, one just has to grit his teeth and "Walk on by."

Even a blind person could see that Argentina was one step up too far for Shehu Abdullahi, however, our people are for some reason failing to accept that brazen reality. I think one of our biggest problems at the moment is that our people are being deceived by the qualifiers, failing to realise that we will not be playing Swaziland, Cameroon, Zambia and Algeria in Russia.

Then you have the experienced Elderson Echiejilie. Realizing Rohr will be taking four central defenders, sadly, one player will have to be dropped from the Russia-bound plane.

List of likely World Cup full backs

1. Shehu Abdullahi
2. Elderson Echiejilie
3. Tyronne Ebuehi
4. Ola Aina
5. Bryan Idowu

He's actually playing consistently at Left back now, for Hull City (with fellow Chealsea 'loanee' Fikayo Tomori playing at Right Back). If we play a back four at the Mundial, he's the odds on favourite to start at Left Back.
No Echejile who hasnt played since September 2017 is "more experienced".
Pls dont dash Obong's hopes
smartbrother,
For all your touted "smartness", where on this thread did I state a preference for Echiejilie or any of the other players? Of all the listed options, Echiejilie is without argument the most experienced. That he's struggled in recent matches is without question. Thankfully, Rohr isn't as smart as you. At least he has perspective and will pick the best available options.

And he’s never played at RB for Nigeria...
All his 3 appearances has thus far been at LB.

You cannot be certain about this. Considering the fact that we seem to have plans to play with 3 CBs in some games.
Truth is that Rohr can only take so many players. Unless somebody very talented is thrown up before March, Ekong, Balogun, Awaziem and Omeruo are the likely central defenders going to Russia. Versatility will be crucial, thus defenders like Omeruo, Awaziem, Aina and Shehu who can play more than one position may likely have an edge. I have the impression that he will lean towards going with 7 defenders, 6 midfielders and 7 forwards. Versatility will really be crucial in determining the final selection. Certain players like Ndidi can play both midfield and defense, Iwobi can play in midfield and as a forward, while Victor Moses can play forward, midfield and as a wingback. Because we will have 3 goalkeepers, the outfield 20 will have to be roundly available and adaptable to positions and formations given that we stand a strong chance of going into the knockout phases.

This is something that folks need to understand and Rohr has packed his team with versatile players that can play multiple roles for Nigeria. This not only allows us to have have cover for every position, but gives us tactical flexibility as well.

Apart from the sure-fire starters, the players who can play multiple roles at a high level will have an edge in making the final roster. I think that this will be among the key considerations for Rohr.

Hmmm, if an LC said something like this CE would be calling him a spiv. But I'm a little worried about this relationship, because it was a little odd to me that Agu came out of nowhere and just took over the backup DM spot (over the likes of Etebo, Ogu etc) even when his displays on the field didn't necessarily back it up. But I no know book o...

:rotf: You can pocket lower in other leagues too, its only EPL where money is flowing anyhow. I know that league minimum in La Liga is like about $156K per year.

I guess we see Sanchez, Pogba, Zlatan like salaries in the EPL (where even average players get 100K per week) and forget that this pay bracket is limited to the very elite.

Still I thought a pro footballer in Turkey would be earning at least 1 million PA. It is weird to think for e.g. that Shehu gets paid the same as a 30 yo lawyer or doctor.
