You are also making a case for the non inclusion of Vincent....maceo4 wrote:
How can we see him when he is playing U-23 and with the reserves, is that the type of player that would be a shoo-in for a serious World Cup team? That's the truth of the matter, his previous stats don't mean jack right now, what he needs to do is play well during this loan spell to ensure his spot on the team. Lucky for him Rohr seems to like him, but if we are doing merit based selections, there is no way you can come here with a straight face and say on current form or lack there of he deserves to be on the plane. But I agree, lets give him a chance...
Either way, Musa is going to WC barring injury!

Most definitely, but with this move Musa is in a better position now than Vince and I wouldn’t be surprised if Enyeama misses out.fabio wrote:You are also making a case for the non inclusion of Vincent....maceo4 wrote:

I respectfully hope you're old enough to appreciate what was going down then - while Real Madrid were busy ignoring Eto'o - while 2 clubs Barca & Arsenal in the region of 12m quid were vying for his attn - most respected Football journos had Agha as the next big thing from Africa - his undoing was the move to Ukraine!!!mystic wrote:tolahs wrote:We don't as a national fanbase, F.A. expect the highest standards from our players - we're sleeping through deteriorating careers - just remember Aghahowa was once bigger than Eto'o.maceo4 wrote:Yea we need to phase out players with poor decision making skills, but to be fair to Musa he adds serious speed coming in off the bench which can be useful to the team. The hostility towards players by home fans from Argentina, Croatia, Brazil is such that you get the move to a bigger league & you'ii rather die than lose your job. If you go to clubs with low expectations - you just don't progress as a player most of the time - yes, the likes of Eto'o & Drogba thru sheer force of will & hardwork made their way at the highest levels.
Aghahowa was never bigger than Eto - NEVER!

Let’s be neutral and honest when was aghawonder ever rated better than stop internationally? Do you realize that even before etoo bossed la liga, the dude already won two anc 2000, 2002 and also an olympics medalist in 2000 so when was aghawondee ever better than Etoo? I’m saying this as a big stop fan

You thought if you mentioned Vincent, you will weaken Maceo's heart? Although we have all been joking about the whole Enyeama issue, most of us (Me, Odas, Obong and Maceo) have been men of integrity on that issue. Our sole purpose is that Nigeria succeeds.fabio wrote:You are also making a case for the non inclusion of Vincent....maceo4 wrote:

Aghahowa was never bigger than Eto - NEVER!
Eto was already a World Cup player at age 17 (1998) and a highly touted Real Madrid player before Aghahowa emerged at the Nigeria '99 World Youth Tournament. And by 2000 Eto was already one of the Continent's biggest stars - helping Cameroon to win the African Nations Cup.
Aghahowa, in 2000, was relatively unknown (in the context of African Continental football) when he came off the bench to rescue Nigeria in the ANC quaterfinal against Senegal. From there he was a part of Bonfrere Jo's disappointing 2000 Olympic team; before going on to starr for Nigeria at the 2002 ANC and the 2002 World Cup.
By contrast, Eto over the same period, would go on to lead Cameroon to the 2000 Olympic gold medal. He was also key to helping them repeat as Nations Cup champions in 2002, before going on to starr at the World Cup in the same year.
And this is just his exploits for Cameroon. We've not even begun to talk about his reputation in Spain during this period. I mean, you do realize that Samuel Eto was the 2nd runner up in the African footballer of the Year voting in consecutive years (2000 and 2001) before finally winning it for the first time in 2003.
Methinks you really need to go and do your homework on this one before carrying on with the delusion that Aghahowa was ever even considered in the same breath as Eto. Because continuing to repeat that line doesn't put you in a good light, where football knowledge is concerned.
