Dutch club Fortuna Sittard are taking legal actions against Sunday Oliseh after the Nigerian coach claimed that he was suspended by the club because he refused to partake in fraud.

After he was suspended on Wednesday, February 14, Oliseh claimed that he was taken off his position as head coach because of his refusal to participate in illegal activities and violate the law.
“I confirm: Due to my refusal to participate in Illegal activities at Fortuna Sittard and violate the Law, I have been Suspended from my duties as Coach by the Foreign Owners of Fortuna,” Oliseh wrote on Twitter.

“Unfortunate for the lovely fans, my players and our hard-fought phenomenal positioning for promotion.”

Fortuna Sittard strike back
The club on Thursday, February 15 have reacted by revealing that they will be taking legal actions against the Nigerian coach.

“Fortuna Sittard has taken note of the unsubstantiated allegations made yesterday in various media by Sunday Oliseh after being on non-active earlier that day,” the club said in a statement on their website.
Although Fortuna Sittard does not wish to go along with accusations in the press, Fortuna wants to fight the accusations made.
“In this context, the club will also take the necessary legal follow-up steps. Fortuna does not recognize itself at all in these accusations, which were not previously ventilated by Sunday Oliseh internally.
“Something that can be expected in view of the seriousness of the accusations regarding alleged illegal practices. Fortuna Sittard chooses to respond once by means of this statement because many media have turned to her immediately after the accusations made to the club's address.”
The club further revealed that the decision to suspend Oliseh wasn’t made overnight.
“The countless clandestine acts, as well as the disrupted employment relationship on the part of Sunday Oliseh, have unfortunately led Fortuna to make him non-active,” the Eerste Divisie club said.
According to Fortuna Sittard, they will further reveal the culpable behaviours that led to the suspension of Oliseh during the legal proceedings.
“Fortuna Sittard has received numerous written statements from individuals who have pointed to various culpable acts that will also be introduced during the procedure,” the club said.
“Many of them explicitly indicated that they no longer wanted to cooperate with Sunday Oliseh. Fortuna Sittard has therefore consciously opted to preserve the peace and to resolve the escalations as much as possible internally, also with the help of external help.”

Good times
Oliseh was appointed coach of Sittard in December 2016 with the club on the verge of relegation from the Eerste Divisie, the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands.
The former Super Eagles coach has improved Sittard’s results remarkably and after avoiding relegation last season went on to win the Second Period title in January 2018, their first title in 21 years.

Sittard are currently third on 44 points in the league table, five points behind leaders NEC and have already secured qualification to the playoffs for the promotion to the Eredivisie.
However, the team has declined in recent weeks and have gone on a four-game losing run.

Claudio Braga, a Portuguese has been appointed to replace Oliseh in the interim. He will be assisted by Kevin Hofland, a former Dutch defender.

Had Oliseh kept quiet, this would have been his football legacy and not an unnecessary court case

His action can even help him become a bigger coach when a owner that want honest coach come calling.

Oliseh should double down and call a presser... or do a youtube or Twitter interview.

Oliseh should go see a therapist. Therapy is not only for sick people. Sometimes it is healthy to stand up for yourself. That is not a bad thing. But Oliseh should be more diplomatic and not self destruct on Twitter and YouTube. Even if the club asked him to commit fraud. There is a better way of handling it like report them and sue them for wrongful termination. You don't go on Twitter like a NFL player and yarn rubbish that will get you in trouble. Maybe he needs a life mentor that can give him advise not a therapist. First it was the Nigerian job now this. This is a troubling pattern. Oliseh is obviously talented. He needs rethink things.
Winners do it the right way.

It could quite possibly affect his severance package.

In coaching, it is best to be fired and the club will be on the hook for your pay for the duration of the contract.

Cuts both ways. Truth will only be revealed through litigation. Considering that Churchill Oliseh (his brother) is a lawyer, I am surprised he cannot offer Sunday sound advise about how to speak in contentious situations such as this.

It would be even more sad if he's actually right, because why use twitter when you can go the legal route and really stick it to them. But now they know to cover their tracks and will be fighting tooth and nail to clear their name. (assuming Oliseh's allegations are true).

I actually believe sunday has all the evidence he needs especially since his brother is a lawyer!! One thing a lot of people are not taking into account is the fact that Fortuna Sittard have got "previous". I mean they were docked points for financial irregularities just last season!!And anyone who says sunny should just walk away and move on is not serious. Walk away from a severance package? You better fire me and pay me my money, if the WHiTE MANAGER DOES THAT, SUNNY BETTER DO IT TOO!

After all, he has mouths to feed!! :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry:

Bros, no mind the 'I-told-you-so' pipul wen full hia. For me, I believe coach Oliseh know what he is doing, except he should not have made the allegation as early as he did, until further down in the 'battle field.'

Oliseh needs help. I hope he gets it. How exactly can a Club ask him to do something illegal? In what sense? Just take a look @ Oliseh career; its full of " he said, I said" controversies! Supper Eagles fall out 2002, Retirement from national team, Time @ Borrusia Dortmund, Term as SE coach, Fight with Enyeama and now this! Have you ever heard any other coach make such outlandish claim of crime after been sacked? I pray for this man
