Rohr Confirms – Carl Ikeme Back For World Cup
OwnGoalNigeria.com
The goalkeepers crisis rocking the senior national team of Nigeria became an issue of concern to many Nigerians after first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with Leukaemia.
Ikeme’s unfortunate diagnosis left the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr with few options in the goalkeeping department, and after using Daniel Akpeyi for a while. Ikechukwu Ezenwa is now the first choice shot stopper of the team.
Ezenwa upstaged the Chippa United safe hands after injury ruled him out of Nigeria’s back to back World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Cameroon in Uyo and Yaounde respectively.
Despite the performances of the duo Nigerians are still skeptical of their abilities, with many clamouring for Deportivo La Coruna B goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho to man the post at the World Cup.
Uzoho won the heart of many Nigerians with an impressive 45 minutes display in the Eagles 4-2 win over Argentina in a friendly game last year after his breakthrough at the LaLiga , where he made three first team appearances.
It means he will once again be back in the Eagles fold for the first time since he was diagnosed with Leukaemia just before the start of pre season training at English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

owngoal again (actually its also the OP's copy and paste skills), what is their rationale or reason for saying he will be back for the world cup? I don't see any quotes from Rohr or anybody linked with the team. In the Channels interview Rohr specifically said Ikeme won't be ready for the world cup, but might be ready to meet up with the team when we play England due to the proximity to him.
OP left out this part of the story:

Anybody monitor this bbc world service programme? Also, taking traditional kickoff just means they would be honoring him as part of the game abi?Speaking in a BBC World Service programme monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com, Rohr confirmed that Ikeme will take the traditional kick off before Nigeria’s final World Cup 2018 friendly game against England.

Ikeme is going to Russia anyway but not as participant. My advice to Ikeme - take Tim and get yourself in the best of health before getting back between the sticks

Owngoal is playing tricks on Mugus. Rohr did say in one of his interviews that Ikeme will be part of the team to Russia. Not as one of the players, but a member of the Nigeria delegation.maceo4 wrote:owngoal again (actually its also the OP's copy and paste skills), what is their rationale or reason for saying he will be back for the world cup? Rohr has not stated that and own goal has NOT stated that as well.

which is why that rag and "micheal james" will continue to remain a joke.
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14
He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.
Gary Neville: Mirror: 12/23/14
I think Spain’s by far the best league.

Re: Rohr Confirms – Carl Ikeme Back For World Cup
One must applaud Rohr's man management skills on and off the pitch. He has got the team to show solidarity behind Carl and even though he is out of the squad, he has kept him part of the team. Even all the players gave a bit of their match winning bonus him. Psychologically this does wonders for team spirit..
Talking about goalkeepers... Akpeyi just conceded a useless 2nd goal in the Chippa v CT City game. Beaten by a freekick from long distance. Like in the Argentina game, he went the wrong way and had to change direction.

Re: Rohr Confirms – Carl Ikeme Back For World Cup
Ikeme will likely be invited to take the traditional kickoff before the England vs Nigeria match on June 2nd. He will not play nor is he being considered for the World Cup for obvious health reasons. The Owngoal report is clear about this.

This won't be the 1st or 2nd time he is messing up in his club this season, yet people here will say he is shinning in the South African league (where the playing standard is probably less than the NPFL, BTW).
Just unfair that Akpeyi has used playing in SA as a passport to the SE, when there are better keepers in the NPFL.
