Arsenal 3 vs AC Milan 1 (5-1 aggregate) FT

Post by Nkume »

From BBC

There are only four survivors from the Arsenal side that started the 3-0 win over Watford last Sunday that start.

They are Shkodran Mustafi, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil.

Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin return from injury while Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck celebrate their latest England calls with starts in what is Arsenal's final game before the international break.

Arsenal XI: Ospina, Bellerin, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Xhaka, Ramsey, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Wilshere, Welbeck.

AC Milan have to go for it and they make three changes to the side that started the 1-0 away win at Genoa last weekend.

Italy midfielder Riccardo Montolivo, 20-year-old forward Patrick Cutrone and former Porto forward Andre Silva are recalled.

Former Blackburn striker Nikola Kalinic is among those dropping out.

AC Milan XI: Donnarumma; Borini, Bonucci, Romagnoli, Rodriguez, Suso, Kessie, Montolivo, Calhanoglu, Cutrone, Silva.

Athletico through. Marseille, Lazio, RB Liepsig going thro. Porto's game going into extra time.

Hopefully Welbeck will break his duck this game.

Arsenal need to NOT pass the ball to Xhaka when he won't have time on the ball. In those times, he panics and is inefficient. Get him the ball in space and with time.

Kos hurt...the hits continue in defense. Looks like Chambers is going to come on.

you would think Arsenal players do not know their teammates. Why pass to players with limited ball skills under pressure?

Haha you saw how panicked he was in that situation and he passed a really dangerous ball to Ospina. Thank God Ospina was kool under pressure. I don't what the issue is with Xhaka... :?: :?:

Thrives in space and time. Slow feet. Has to be put in the position to get the best of him. Funny enough, Milan isnt really pressing him so he has sprayed a few great passes but the few times they have, he has panicked.

So many chances for these Arsenal players to shoot ad they keep passing it up...At least try once in a while to keep the Milan defence honest!! :?

Pretty much the only one patrolling that right flank. I'm guessing that is Ozil not doing his duties. Though it seems he's been given license to roam all over the field but no one is shifting to that right side.

Good shot from Welbeck! Donna saves.
Milan are playing a far too open game.

So many runs behind Milan's defense yet multiple Arsenal players refuse to play the pass inside and settle for the safe pass

Pretty much what I thought too but hey, we are not exactly fans of Welbeck so that may colour our views... :tic:

Even Onduparaka can beat this Milan team silly.

Kos' injury has really forced our hand re subs. Would have preferred El Neny with Xhaka, and Ramsey playing the Wilshere role
