MIKEL, ETEBO, JUNIOR AJAYI OUT OF POLAND CLASH

Post by Obong »

But, Mikel will be available to play Serbia on Tuesday...

http://owngoalnigeria.com/2018/03/20/of ... endly-tie/

Captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria John Obi Mikel has joined the duo of Oghenekaro Etebo and Junior Ajayi in pulling out of the Super Eagles friendly game against Poland.

Etebo pulled out of the friendly game due to fitness issues, while Ajayi couldn’t secure an entry visa into Poland. Mikel’s withdrawal from the game is due to his inability to sort out his work permit issues.

According to Super Eagles team administrator Dayo Enebi Achor, the Tianjin Teda of China midfielder took his visa for renewal but the renewal didn’t go as planned and due to the delays he will miss the game against Poland, but he is expected to play in the game against Serbia in England.

“We all had been hoping that the renewal would come in good time for him to fly to Poland. As it is now, it is not likely that he would make the trip”, Enebi told thenff.com.

Moses, Iheanacho, Ndidi Arrive Wrocław Camp; NFF Confirm Three Players Out Of Poland Game
The English-based players invited for the upcoming friendlies against Poland and Serbia have all arrived in camp, according to the official website of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Leicester City pair Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, Chelsea right wing-back Victor Moses and Porto loanee Chidozie Awaziem linked up with their international teammates at the Radisson Blu Hotel camp in Wroclaw today.

As first reported by allnigeriasoccer.com, the Nigerian Federation have confirmed that Las Palmas midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo will not attend the friendly against Poland but hopes to travel to London in time for the match against Serbia on March 27.

Al Ahly striker Junior Ajayi will also not be available for selection against Poland after failing to secure a visa, he will fly directly to the English capital.

Tianjin Teda midfielder and Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel is unlikely to feature in Friday's match as he's still in China trying to renew his work permit.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa is expected to join the team on Wednesday, while the availability of Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi remains covered in mist.

The team will train twice tomorrow just as they did on Tuesday.

At this rate, I'm gonna call coach Rohr to inform that I am available in short order.

I don’t get this shenanigans from our players because they’re behaving like Nff didn’t inform them 1 month to this game. There’s no reason why Mikel or ajayi should be missing this match due to Visa related issues when they were informed 1 month prior to the Friday game. Anyway, I don’t blame them because there’s no protocol in-lieu of reprimanding players for disobedience

There is no indication what the denial was for. As for Mikel, Its a work permit issue. The delay most likely isn't his fault
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand

If it isn’t his fault then who’s fault is it? We should stop exonerating players of blame. Mikel was informed about this game 1 month in advance therefore, there no reason why visa should be Holding hik

Dude, getting a visa and getting a work permit are entirely different processes...
Even if he knew of the game's schedule a year ago, he cannot move the permit process any faster.

China enacted new work permit regulations (not just football, but across the board) that took effect as from February 28, and a whole lot of renewals have been caught up in it.

Mikel's case is understandable...Ajayi's on the other hand isn't. What was the problem? Was he denied outright or was it due to late application and thus wouldn't be approved in time for the match? :?

Considering how eleated he was getting the call up, the circumstances must likely to have been out of his control. The dude is based in Egypt, with a Nigerian passport, needing a Polish visa... I doubt the process will be straightforward.

Anyway he will lace up for the Serbia game.. It will be good to see how effective different striking pairings work
