Owngoalnigeria.com has obtained details of how the Super Eagles of Nigeria lined up in their evening training session yesterday which was supervised by coach Gernot Rohr.

The team had a practice game with coach Rohr separating the players into two teams for a practice game which ended 3-1 in favour of the team that looks likely to start (Team lineup A).

Ikechukwu Ezenwa had his first session with the team, and he was in goal for the team many believe is the B team while Francis Odinaka Uzoho manned goal for the A team.

The shock inclusion in the A team was Brian Idowu who started as left back for the team that had lost of the likely starters. His selection ahead of Elderson Echiejile and Ola Aina was the only major change in the team A.

Line Up Team A:

Francis Odinaka Uzoho ( GK)

Shehu Abdullahi

Brian Idowu

Leon Balogun

William Troost-Ekong

Wilfred Ndidi

Ogenyi Onazi ( Joel Obi)

Kelechi Iheanacho

Alex Iwobi

Victor Moses

Odion Ighalo

Line Up Team B:

Ikechukwu Ezenwa ( GK)

Ola Aina

Elderson Echiejile

Chidozie Awaziem

Kenneth Omeruo

Uche Agbo

Joel Obi ( Eddy Onazi)

Moses Simon

Ahmed Musa

John Ogu

Training Report – How Joel Obi Turned Practice Game In Favour Of Team A After Replacing Onazi

The team B of the Super Eagles of Nigeria were slowly running away with a win in yesterday’s practice match during the training session of the Super Eagles before Joel Obi was switched to the A team.

Obi started the game in midfield for the B team, and before his substitution they were leading 1-0 with his hardworking display helping his side to switch from defence to attack with ease as he dominated the midfield duels.

Coach Gernot Rohr was somehow impressed by his performance and moved him to the A team in place of Ogenyi Onazi, and he immediately helped stabilise the midfield of the A team who were nowhere near their best when he was playing against them.

His introduction helped them claw their way back into the game, and they eventually won the session 3-1. A scoreline which angered many players of the B team who were unhappy over the decision of Rohr to take Obi from their team.

One positive notice during the training session is the way the players played among themselves, with both teams displaying a high level of understanding in defence and even in attack.

Did some of the players sit out the session? The 9ja Dutch right back is not listed in either team

If you are referring to Ebuehi, he appears to be nursing a slight injury and trained separately yesterday from the rest of the team.

hopefully this means Echiejele is on his way out.

If Rohr prefers Idowu, and Aina can play both left and right, and is playing consistently at a much higher level,

Also keep in mind Joel can play at LB as well

Echijele is completely surplus to requirements

HE SHOULD NOT GO TO RUSSIA GOD WILLING.

Ebuehi is not fit. I expect him to miss the game. If I was the coach, i will also keep him out of the Serbia game. Same for Etebo.

He should be on his way out no matter what and certainly shouldn’t be at the World Cup as would mean Nigeria has not progressed.

Man can you give it a rest.......

. Rohr is a professional and has been getting his decisions on point with the exception of the South African game. It really sounds pathetic when fans suggest our players play out of position. Joel Obi is a midfield player not a full back that is the position he plays at his club. The match report states he played midfield for both Team A & B and here you are recommending him for left back.

The Echeijile thing if he is really bad as you haters claim I trust Rohr to spot it and drop him. But to keep on whining.......... we play tomorrow and next week can keep all your negativity to yourself until after this round of matches.
