Senegal (albeit with their second team) are down 0:1 to Uzbekistan after a 19 min. penalty.

Mali really should have beat Japan. The extra time added on was absurd.

3 wins 1 Draw and 1 Loss...not bad

The game should have ended at least 1-1.
The ref added more time for Portugal.
The Egyptian goalie and defenders should have done better though.

Re: Int Friendly's involving African teams
France is highly overrated
Re: Int Friendly's involving African teams
Ronaldo snapped in the 90th. We had our chances to go up 2-0 #so hopefully we learn from this. Taking off Salah was stupid. They left Ronaldo on and he scores twice...
Very encouraged by our football though today. Uruguay can be had.

Egypt will be fine, I see them getting out of their group... it's Senegal I'm a bit worried about inspite of their amazing talents, they always find a way to underwhelm.

To be honest though the first team did not play today. The subs dissapointed.Tobi17 wrote:Egypt will be fine, I see them getting out of their group... it's Senegal I'm a bit worried about inspite of their amazing talents, they always find a way to underwhelm.
And lets not make them Cote d'Ivoire. They haven't had a chance to dissapoint yet.

It was a fair result.Kabalega wrote:That was robbery!Benedict Iroha wrote:Damn Ronaldo killed Egypt.

Portugal had a legit goal disallowed in the first half.
We created 1 chance all game (in the first half). Salah's second half goal came out of nowhere and he's the only guy on our team that could've scored that.
I'm not upset about the loss. Cuper subbed off our best player with 15 minutes to go which he obviously wouldn't have done in a competitive game. Taking out Salah cost us the game. His replacement was Shikabala who was a disaster. Cuper asked of him to defend the wings and Shika was just coasting all over the place. If you go to see the build-up of Portugal's first goal you'll see that Shika was walking around while leaving his man open for a good 30 seconds. Lo and behold, his man made the cross that led to the equalizer. If Cuper is going to bring on an attacker and ask him to defend, he better make sure the player is disciplined and follows instructions.
Oh well, its a friendly. The main takeaways for me are:
-Salah is our only scoring threat. The rest of our attackers are not up to the standard of elite international competition
-Our central mid and defence are good enough to keep us competitive
-Our GK (Shennawy) is a bit of a liability but he's the best we've got

Not so sure they'll make it.

Re: Int Friendly's involving African teams
People make too much out of friendlies. As bad as Russia is (they have one of the worst teams in the WC), they will have homefield advantage and our group is very weak (I include Egypt). They are playing Saudi first who they will probably beat. That'll take the pressure off of them and they'll be favoured against Egypt. By the time the Uruguay game rolls around, they might both be playing for a draw.
I expect Uruguay to advance with either Egypt or Russia. Egypt has no excuses not to advance. Its the easiest group we can ask for.
