We are not taking either of them. The World Cup is for our best 23.
Let the coach assess both up close personal.

Naijaria is taking the youngest squad to the World Cup. Naijarians don't care much about experience but I am a huge fan of having experienced players in certain departments of the game.

I like experience in goal for one. Like one or two experienced midfielders (if two or 3 are on the team... they can't all start at once)... like an experienced CF who can retain possession and doesn't drift offside. On the flanks, I love youth. I think we can strike a good balance.

I don't want what happened in the Serbia game to repeat itself in the World Cup proper. Where we don't have a bench. Some of the guys who started the game should be coming off the bench.

We had no bench at the last WC but we had experienced players like Ameobi on there so it was all good.

A 25 year-old Martins couldn’t make an impact in 2010 and a 33 year-old one is supposed to in 2018. Make I hear word ojare :!:

What kind of fire and power are we talking about here?

holy ghost fire?

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

Chief Cellular; isn't such as stated why friendlies are played to see how some players and/or combinations will work out?

Na age abi na form? He wasn't in good form going into that world cup and we had Yakubu as the starter and he was used as a sub and had some impact. Right now he's in better form than our starting striker in the same league.

I had told people on this forum here MANY TIMES, that in terms of intelligence on the ball Martins is 10 times better than he has ever been!

He is even better than he was at Inter!

What he has lost is his athleticism! In other words, give him youth and he would be on the radar of top footballing teams!

He has lost a bit of his explosiveness. And when he was briefly called him, we didn't see enough of him!

I think he should have been called up more 2/3 years ago! I will not necessarily advocate for him now, I think it may be too late.

But I was of the opinion than the Martins of 2/3 years ago was his most cerebral ever! He could have rubbed off positively on other players as well. Nacho could learn a lot from him. Fools would say Dempsey this Dempsey that, they never watched the guy play evidently. Martins looks like someone that could play in any position upfront. He started very deep for the Sounders.

As of now.....hmmmmmm He still looks sharp, perhaps he should get a look in, especially if Ighalo is the main man. But I would first of all place more faith in Iheanacho. But definitely if Ighalo is the starter, may as well call back Martins.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

Does anybody know the names of any of the defenders that let Martins score a hat-trick?

These defenders are in the same league in which Ighalo is struggling to score.

Martins couldn't do anything at his peak. He will do nada now. Ighalo is 2 times better than Martins is today for the SE. Chinese league is another matter.

Some of you guys are delusional. Ighalo has scored only one goal since October last year. Make una continue to deceive una selves..

If Rohr knows what's best for him, he will give Enyeama and Martins a look...

Just because it's obvious to you does not make it obvious to others. Anyway the current SE needs a striker and Martins deserves an opportunity to fight for a shirt. Simple and plain

If Martins is yesterday's man, then tell us which era does Aiyenugba belong to? After all you've been touting Aiyenugba up and down these pages.

I don't rate Ighalo in GWG.

I only rate him in Watford Colours, in that his first season?

Obafemi Martins' SE record is a bit funny. The guy's talent is much greater than what he accomplished with the SE.

I think he didn't take it seriously in those early years. If he had put his head down and focused, he probably would have been equal to Yekini at the very least.

The guy underachieved in GWG colours. But I have a lot of respect for him, because he is one of the most dynamic Nigerian footballers I have ever seen. Just when you think the guy is done, he shows something else. He is a pure athlete, one of the few we have ever had. He is our version of Wilt Chamberlain. Imagine if the guy was tall....kaii :scared: :scared: :scared:

I honestly speaking have more confidence in Martins than I do in Ighalo. I don't think Martins is the way to go now, but if Rohr is having a headache and is considering Ighalo, abeg just choose Martins.

The first thing I would do though is work on the likes of Iheanacho, heck even Musa. Musa in a central role...should be a better gamble than Ighalo. I am not sure how Ighalo became such a talking point to be honest, what has he ever done?

Not conclusive on the basis of the match against Serbia.

We need some depth in experience and a measure of guile which to be frank is sorely lacking in this team.

Just too young in my view.
