Much as I would have preferred Uyo to host the "Thank you" match, since Akwa Ibom graciously hosted the matches that led to qualification, I understand from usually reliable sources that certain underlying political issues not unconnected to the 2019 elections between the current Governor and his godfather has affected the funding for the match. Governor Wike of Rivers State stepped in ,and the Pinnick-led NFF was only too glad to take up their sponsorship. Port-Harcourt is only 2 hours by road from Uyo. The hard-nut fans will still make the trip. Besides, many of the same fans from Rivers and the contiguous Bayelsa, Abia, Imo, Cross River, Ebonyi, Delta, Enugu and Anambra who invaded Uyo will likely similarly flood Port-Harcourt. Not including those flying in from Abuja and Lagos. As usual, I expect our Super Eagles to be cheered and celebrated.

I wonder what Rohr wants out of this friendly.

I know he wanted Nigerians to send off the team with a friendly at home but is PH the best location?

Have things changed?

PH has limited flights to it and NO direct international flights, even though the airport can handle them.
So teams land at MMIA only wait for hours before finding a flight to PH.
Usually the last flight is full due to the Eagle's large entourage.

In short, it is simply gamesmanship by Nigerians during qualification campaigns.
Why resort to it for a "meaningless" friendly?
What am I missing?

It cannot be a comprehensive morale boost when you inconvenience the visiting team.
