Gerrard is looking to stamp his mark on Ibrox and brought in three permanent deals as well as Ovie Ejaria on loan from Liverpool.

It’s Gerrard’s first season as a manager and he knows he has to enhance his options up top.

Alfredo Morelos is Rangers’ only recognised striker as it stands and The Scottish Sun reports that Sadiq is now a target.

The 21-year-old was bought by Roma for £2million in 2016 but spent the second half of last season on loan with Dutch side NAC Breda.

He netted five goals in 13 games in the Eredivisie and has two strikes in six Serie A games to his name.

Sadiq scored four goals for Nigeria at the 2016 Olympics in Rio though is yet to play for their full senior side.

And while Gerrard is keen to dip his toes into the marker, former Gers man Kris Boyd has warned the Liverpool legend of transfer perils.

"He needs to get to understand the Scottish game as quick as he possibly can," Boyd said.
