No, Etebo should have played on the left wing (which was his primary position in Portugal), while Iwobi should have moved to AM (his nominal position). No substitions and several major structural problems fixed.

When we said CHina and useless league players in Cyprus and co should not be in this team, they abused us. They said its not a measure of how good you are.

For me, MIkel should go back to DM so he can create from deep, Ndidi should play in the central midfield so he can huff, puff and clean up, Iwobi or Etebo should play in the Am and LM. Etebo played LM/W and also behind the striker in portugal, played CM and AM (once or twice) in Spain.

There are only two Chinese players in the side and only one should be dropped. That is Ighalo. I know he is strong, but Kelechi is just better than him. Iheanacho started up top against Argentina and Algeria, and we scored seven goals in the matches, so I don't get the fixation on Ighalo.

Mikel is still the only player I see doing anything interesting with the ball at his feet, for whatever faults he has. Iwobi looked a bit scared, tbh. Moses was atrocious. Etebo and Ndidi both put in a brilliant shift, but they are just functional with the ball at their feet.

Etebo played in the Portuguese league before he spent half a season in Spain.
And he played left wing quite a lot.
He also played left wing at the Olympics.

Etebo would do great against Iceland. For all their power they are prone to giving away the odd penalty kick. And Etebo's ball control and dribble and push forward makes him a prime candidate. He was fouled 8 times vs Croatia. Imagine if he had just half of those vs Iceland, but in good scoring positions or resulting in a PK?

Not even Mikel himself would describe what he did with the ball last night as interesting. Unless lofting high balls towards Ighalo with the hope that somehow he would prevail against three or four defenders is "interesting". He was as poor as Moses. Not sure that Iwobi is the answer, but we have to try something different. Mikel should drop back or drop to the bench, Iwobi or Etebo should be tried in that position. Difficult to judge Ighalo, he had next to no service. Maybe Iheanacho deserves a chance in his place as well.
