needless idiocy( like Ekong wrestling down a player for no cognitive reason), then the so called big teams relying on set pieces and mostly unfortunate own goals from opposition teams to barely scrape by, as a matter of fact the ratio of goals scored through own goals and set pieces in this tournament so far brings to critical fore the question of if the world cup has actually dipped in quality??. So far only the host Russia have scored some impressive goals that actually came from intelligent team work and brilliant moments, the rest have been interspersed with own goal deflections, maybe the elite teams are playing cautiously so far, but there is nothing so far to suggest we will have a thriller where actual quality goals will be scored, you know a tournament is seriously itching for quality when ONLY the goal scorers are the MOTM in each game, hope we see more interesting games in the round of 16 phase.
