Rohr on German Radio... Against Iceland, I will play ......

Experienced players.(my take, Musa starts, Onazi starts and maybe Ighalo )
Says he awaits open game from both teams, since both will be going for a win.
Expects Iceland not to park the bus against us since we have no .............Messi.

Them his usual blabla about Nigeria having the youngest team etc

It’s like friendlies do not matter. What sane coach would start Onazi after that England match?

The worst players in the last game were the experienced ones.

Ehmm the fact that we have no Messi is actually BETTER for us.

If a team is compact, the last thing you want to do is limit your channels! Against a compact team, you win by maximising your channels. And that does not rest on one creative outlet, no matter how many abilities he has in his arsenal.

Argentina used the advantage of Messi and turned it into a disadvantage.

The fact that our team's chances are spread over a number of players is a good omen! Of course it may not bode well if they do not start! (i.e. Iheanacho, Iwobi, Ndidi).
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

Sometimes, you wonder if Gernot Rohr in the dark recesses of his mind thinks he is still managing perennial losers Gabon, Burkina Faso or Niger.
We are Nigeria and our national team is the Super Eagles.

If he does not win today, he will know what it feels like to be Jorde Sampaoli.

The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. Why don't you at least wait till you see the team set up and performance against Iceland before you raise the guillotine? :D
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

He needs to keep the guillotine of Nigerian expectations in view as a reminder to be on his toes and remember the reason he was employed in the first place.

Nigeria will need to dictate play by keeping the ball on the ground and avoiding cheap set pieces.

Also, we will need to start shooting from outside the box to increase our chances of scoring.

Draw iceland out, let them think they can play the ball on the ground, just the way France did to them is the template to beat them, they key is the first goal, if Nigeria can put in an early goal, that will force them out from their own half looking for the equaliser, but of course they will be looking for free kicks, set pieces, especially the long throw in, that is how they play
