What Argentinas strategy will be

Post by kali »

Argentina has a goal difference of -3. Iceland has a goal difference of -2. Argentina needs at least two goals against Nigeria in the event Iceland beats Croatia.

1) Argentina will thus lineup an ultra attacking team that will go for it with Aguero, Higuain and Messi probably starting.

Argentina has watched Nigerias games and knows the team is susceptible to mistakes particularly in the box.

2) Argentina will try at all costs to get into the box to get scoring opportunities or fouls.

Argentina knows Nigeria generally starts to organize very slowly.

3) Argentina will from the first minute launch an attack on Nigerian defence to exploit space.

Argentina knows that all eyes will be on Messi and Aguero so they will be used as decoys with the initial attack going through the other players as discovered in his practice notes.

4) Argentina will use less known players to make runs into the box with Messi, and Higuain shooting from the edges.

Argentina knows our major goalscoring threat is Musa.

5) Argentina will assign two players to.shadow him and foul him before he gets going. One in the midfield and one at the back.

I don’t think the plan is clueless. They’re staring into the abyss....if there ever was a time to throw a bit of caution to the wind, it is this time. Lots of careers will be negatively defined by a World Cup 1st round elimination...and they know that

The only part I don’t see as possible is the 2 guys on Musa part. If one starts an ultra-attacking argentine team, and then compounds it by dedicating 2 people to mark Musa, then you’ve got to wonder how the rest of the team would survive vs the other Nigerian players. They’ll have a simple bodies problem.

My sense is that they will put it all on Messi...and focus on unlocking the locks that the Croatians and Icelanders put on him
If purge dey worry you, you no dey select toilet

To meet each other behind the bike sheds for a good old fashioned dust up. School blazers turned inside out for the ensuing anonymity.

Much about nothing with Messi. Croatia has decoded the Lion-always make his markers stay on his left side. Also, organize to cut off feeds to him. Messi, (not even once), did he manage to go through his markers when they stood to his left. Each time, he became lost because he could not turn to his right and gave the balls away. To make matters worse, he became a total passenger on the field against Croatia.

Next Season, Messi's career is done in La Liga because he has been completely decoded. To mark and stop him will no longer be a problem. If he performs against Nigeria, it will either be because Rohr does not read matches well or the Nigerians did not adhere strictly to their Coach's instruction on how to mark Messi out.

Not as simple as assumed. Argentina played with no purpose, no pattern and a posse of mutinous minds. The end product, Albishameless. Tuesday is a whole different affair. The whole country expects, the people are demanding pride, passion, nationalist sentiment is pouring from every bottle of Malbec, sizzling with every steak spitting on the grill. Are they Argentinians any more? Do they know what it means to the people? Kings of their castles and pristine palaces in their European paradises. Argentina didn’t make them millionaires, does it matter as much as Barcelona or Manchester, Juventus or Paris? This will be an Argentina playing for pride, playing to prove to its people, they are one of them. They will be different. They will be prepared. They will be the people’s Argentina, any less and they’ll be outcasted.

If anything, the two games have shown Argentina the way forward, four not three, two not one and purpose on the transition. Higuain or Dybala comes in, Di Maria returns and Messi, with no other option, turns up. All that has passed has no value, all 22 men know this is a gunfight in a field of no hiding place...Stay low and keep firing.
