Check this out about this article about the development of the Swedish game.

"A quiet revolution is taking place in Sweden. The Swedish FA has reformed child and youth coach education. They have translated both national and international evidence based findings into guidelines for coaches and coach educators. The emphasis is on the young person, their perspective, their learning, development and needs. A common problem when presenting evidence based material is that the academic language is not appropriate for the dissemination of information. The language used in the new coach education curriculum ensures that the content is accessible for coaches, parents and coach educators.

“Children and young people who devote themselves heart and soul to football deserves responsible and knowledgeable leaders- We have high goals. A children’s rights perspective and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child are the basis for the wording in our curriculum” Urban Hammar (Swedish FA Head of Coach Education)"

Youth football development is now going beyond merely kicking a ball about. It is also about mental development.

The gap in the football of centres of footballing excellence like Brazil, Uruguay and rising world powers in the game like England, Iceland and Sweden is commitment to the best of their talent. They don't just let them wing it on their own but provide the support and tools to help them advance in the game.

In the UK there are a multiplicity of channels for practising and making it in the game. By the time a kid is 17, they are pretty much ready to be signed up professionally by any of the elite clubs.

The game has 0-0 written all over it.

Coach, take note!
England will nick it...but will need some luck and they have been lucky so far...

It's not going for $1,000. It's pretty easy to get tickets for the game since it's in Samara.

This England team is overhyped. They haven't scored a goal from open play in 240 minutes (the equivalent of nearly 3 games). I don't understand how they can be so jubilant after narrowly winning out. They won't be able to pull this off 3 more times. I just don't see them being creative enough to break down tough opposing defenses.

World Cup 2018: Diego Maradona says England committed 'robbery' against Colombia

England committed a "monumental robbery" in beating Colombia in the last 16 at the World Cup, according to Argentina legend Diego Maradona.

Colombia captain Radamel Falcao also accused referee Mark Geiger of bias towards England, calling the American's performance "shameful".

Geiger often struggled to control a feisty encounter in Moscow, which England won on penalties.

"This situation was undermining us," said Falcao.

Maradona felt Geiger should have penalised Harry Kane for a foul on Colombia's Carlos Sanchez instead of awarding the penalty that allowed the England captain to open the scoring just before the hour mark in Moscow.

"Here's a gentleman who decides, a referee who, if you Google him, shouldn't be given a match of this magnitude... Geiger, an American, what a coincidence," Maradona added on his nightly World Cup show for Venezuela-based Telesur broadcaster.

Maradona was pictured wearing a Colombia shirt prior to the game and TV images showed him celebrating Yerry Mina's late equaliser.

Fifa said Maradona's comments were "entirely inappropriate" and that insinuations about the referee were "completely unfounded".

Football's world governing body added it was "extremely sorry" to read the comments from "a player who has written the history of our game".

"Fifa strongly rebukes the criticism of the performance of the match officials which it considers to have been positive in a tough and highly emotional match," it said.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United striker Falcao was one of six Colombia players booked by Geiger, while two England players had their names taken.

"The referee disturbed us a lot, in the 50-50 plays, he always made the calls in favour of England," said Falcao. "He didn't act with the same criteria for both teams. When in doubt, he always went to the England side.

"I found it peculiar that they put an American referee in this instance. To tell you the truth, the process leaves a lot of doubts."

Colombia's Caracol Radio station dedicated an online story to the referee entitled, 'Mark Geiger, the referee most hated by Colombians'.

Leading daily El Tiempo also called Geiger "controversial", saying in its story "he has had some mishaps, both in Concacaf and in friendly matches"

Colombia's media also praised what they saw as a gutsy performance by their team, who were without injured Bayern Munich midfielder James Rodriguez.

"Thank you warriors! Colombia departs from the World Cup with their heads high," RCN Noticias TV said in their online match report.

"The dream ends for the Tricolour team which leave with their heads high after their bravery and commitment. Thanks boys, the Colombian people support you!" the story said.

El Pais chose a similar headline: "Thank you warriors!"

Meanwhile, you won't hear any complaints about officiating from Nigeria players or officials. When the next WC comes around, same dodgy calls will be made.

I have seen evidence of this first hand in Sweden, my son has been playing with a top club in Stockholm youth team for 6 year old, every weekend, they have matches, training sessions once a week, they have 100s of kids, both sexes in these youth teams, these teams are coached by parents who are interested in the game, my son has definitely improved since he started at 4 years old, now scoring for fun, but this is besides the point, everyone outside Sweden might think what is happening now is a fluke, believe it is no fluke! They are going to produce some really good players soon

People can keep on dismissing them, when they dispatched Italy, nobody took notice except a few in the know how, now people are calling it good fortune, really? You need to go behind the scenes and see all the ground work preparation, they won the under 21 UEFA cup a few years ago against all odds, slowly but steady

Irrespective of what happens this weekend, they will continue to improve, now that the spotlight is on Sweden, they will use this to their advantage, there are some players who did not make the squad, one kid plays in the German Bundesliga, top rated player, sure he will be ready at the next world cup

Their coach will be retained no doubt, so there will be continuity, they have a good chance against England this weekend

Just giving you first hand information on ground
So angry Nigeria got kicked out of the world cup once again, i nearly told my wife that i caught my girlfriend with another man today!

Swedish youngsters have been exposed to the Gothia Cup for years.
