Ehmmm They DO NOT usually win it in South America. Brazil was the first time, just as South America do not usually win it in Europe, in Sweden was the first time.maceo4 wrote:Could have sworn a Euro team won it in South Africa, could have sworn a Euro team won it in Brazil...so what is you talmbout? They’ve earned their spots let’s stop whining...kalani JR wrote:I think they benefit from hosting the tournament more than having the highest number of countries at the tournament. Last World Cup we had 8/10 of the teams from the Americas at the tournament make the knockout round (four of whom faced each other in the Round of 16).
As for South Africa, well that may as well be neutral ground, since Africa is not serious.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT
