You have a point but there were several unused players in the squad and there’s no doubt in my mind that Onyekuru would have been more productive than any one of them

If he or Nwakali had been pinpointed as players for the future at the beginning of last year, they both could have accumulated a significant number of call ups. Not all players should be getting that type of preferential treatment, but we haven't had a midfield talent of Nwakali's calibre since Mikel first burst onto the scene, while Onyekuru's Belgian exploits should have made him a shoe in for calls ups ages ago.

We don't have many players tearing it up, so we can afford to give a select few preferential treatment.

Especially Onyekuru deserved a chance based on merit. He arguably could have been a key player for us just like Ndidi and also could likely have filled the Moses Simon void at left wing.

More callups would have likely had him already playing for Everton.

He was called earlier, played and didn't show he could be a key player. Plus he was just coming off injury. Rohrs job was to take the best and healthiest hands to the WC, not to try and make sure players get caps so they can play for their club team. He knew he didn't have the caps when he decided to sign for Everton...

It's not the SE's fault either. Clubs develop players and national teams come calling. If we start expecting call ups so as to allow players to get into clubs or meet certain rules, then just give the SE to agents.

Even if he meets the % rule, Everton could still loan him out or even sell him. I'm sure they were aware of the rules when they bought him and his agent must have been aware of the rules. Why should both of them be willing to do business only for pressure to be put on the SE handlers to cap him?

Perhaps this is a signal that Galatasary can no longer get Musa to come.. Musa is now destined to get a second look at Leceister City..
