Chelsea have been accused of extreme pettiness after they released a brief and colourless 52-word statement on Antonio Conte’s departure. Maurizio Sarri will be unveiled as Conte’s successor imminently after the Blues struck up a deal for the former Napoli boss and Jorginho earlier this week. Conte’s relationship with Chelsea’s board broke down significantly last season and the Italian publicly criticised the club’s transfer strategy more than once across the campaign. However, the 48-year-old deserves huge credit for what he achieved in a relatively space of time at Stamford Bridge.
Conte won the Premier League title in his first term in charge and, in his second, lifted the FA Cup following a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Wembley. Both achievements were mentioned by Chelsea on Thursday morning but the statement barely got going before it was abruptly brought to an end.
‘Chelsea Football Club and Antonio Conte have parted company,’ it reads. ‘During Antonio’s time at the club, we won our sixth league title and eighth FA Cup. In the title winning season, the club set a then-record 30 wins in a 38-game Premier League season, as well as a club-record 13 consecutive league victories. ‘We wish Antonio every success in his future career.’
Chelsea even opted against including of photograph of Conte on the page and supporters were quick to react across social media.
Many accused Chelsea of lacking class following their statement on Thursday morning… (WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE)

Because he was still under contract, he didn't go the first day but since they hadn't come to an agreement yet he still had to do his duties.anikulapo wrote:A club with no class or dignity. Why did they even allow him to start training camp with the players snickering behind his back knowing Sarri is on his way?
