Russia also had a great run at the WC, does that make them a top European team too? Nope...kudos for a great world cup run, but Spain is a class above the likes of a Croatia. And teams are taking the UEFA Nations League more seriously than a friendly. But 6 goals before the 70th minute and Spain just took their foot off the pedal, kai.

We should encourage our boys to motivate themselves and improve tremendously so that World class teams like man utd, juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern, Dortmund, man city etc will sign them or even traditional big teams like inter, AC Milan, Arsenal, Liverpool etc then our expectations can be high. But when our top strikers is at a backwater league (China) (Saudi) or too midfielders are at backwater (China) championship etc you better humble yourself and limit expectations or just live in a delusional world. It’s either agents, coaches are discriminating against SE players or our boys are just average/below average but if their clubsides dosent change in another 4 years then we’re just wasting time
Remember Denmark in 92, Greece in 2004, Bulgaria in 94? It's all about the luck of the draw. Remember Croatia got through to the final with 2 PK wins? Nobody is saying they are not good but they are not a world class team.

You guys look at results in isolation.
When you see results like this, dig deeper.

Croatia had a major destabilizing scandal just before the World Cup.
I bet the team blocked it out for the WC but, now have to face it, on top of recovering from a stressful late WC run.

The fact that folks are trying to compare the intensity and seriousness of world cup games to glorified friendlies, aka, United Nations Euro League, is hilarious. Croatia was one of the best teams in the WC and that is why they got to the finals. Spain, Germany, Nigeria, et al, were not and that is why the crashed out early. That said what does Croatia losing 0-6 to Spain in a glorified friendly have to do with Croatia reaching the finals of the 2018 WC whereas Spain crashed out in earlier rounds? Nothing. As in irrelevant.

I hear you, but Croatia is still a level below Spain as far as the top tier of European footie goes. Great world cup run though, can't take anything away from them.

so you want to take friendly over wc? :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

I'm sure Spain would rather win a friendly by 6 goals than reach a wc final

True, but if Croatia met France in R16 like Argentina actually did, they (Croatia) would have been out in the R16.

At the end of the day Croatia did not beat any top teams at the WC to make it to the final, unlike say France that beat Uruguay and Belgium.

Wha choo looking at?!
