Enugu of course I will give the older guys here their due respect but they must also respect the newer guys. Joseph yobo holds the record of being
1) SE most capped player
2) played at 3 World Cups
3) nations cup champion
4) played at a good epl team consistently for many years
and in addition to that, he was a dedicated, loyal, respectful player that wasn’t causing any fight or purposely missing any game for Nigeria and like I said, talent alone isn’t enough to rate a player

Sam Ojebode?
Form is temporary; Class is Permanent!
Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

True...

Disagree on Taribo at #1. He was nowhere near Eboigbe...

Yobo was largely a CD for SE...
otherwise good list, although Ekeji should be a little higher

...are they players not ranked via statistics from their playing days or is it by mere popularity and self-like.

Ezesportsworld wrote:Central defenders here meant those who played the number 5 position. It’s 55 best, 5 best players for each position. After talking to so many Nigerian players, they preferred those goalkeepers over Ruffin. My 2pence. Will post the list for number 6 position soon.
Even then, Chidi Nwanu cannot be ahead of Victor Oduah by any rational metrics...
