Levante vs FCB (0-5) Messi Feeds Pele Humble Pie...

Post by Kabalega »

Messi scored a hat-trick with his right foot after Pele said that he has no right foot and cannot head the ball.
Messi has been on fire after he came up ranked 5th. But as no surprise, Pele's mouth is on fire too.

Messi nets hat-trick as Barcelona thrash Levante

Levante won this fixture 5-4 last season.
December 16 2018

Lionel Messi scored yet another hat-trick as Barcelona laid a few ghosts and cemented their place at the top of LaLiga at Levante.

The Argentina star completed his 49th career hat-trick with his 50th goal for club and country of 2018 as Barca romped to a 5-0 victory to ensure they remain three points clear at the top of the table.

The reigning champions needed no reminder of their last visit to the Ciutat de Valencia, when their dream of completing an unbeaten domestic campaign was extinguished in a sensational 5-4 defeat in May.

But a repeat was never on the cards after Luis Suarez opened the scoring and Messi then took over in style with three goals in 17 minutes.

Thomas Vermaelen had a chance to open the scoring after nine minutes but he failed to convert a free header from Messi’s corner.

Moments later Messi curled a shot wide, but Levante had their moments in the early stages too, not least in the 32nd minute when Emmanuel Boateng hammered a shot against the underside of the crossbar which just stayed out.

It was a costly miss as two minutes later Enis Bardhi’s attempt to play his way out of trouble backfired spectacularly.

The loose ball fell to Messi, who jinked his way across the outside of the penalty area before providing an improbable reverse pass to Suarez.

There was still plenty to do but Suarez, with both feet off the ground, executed a perfect cushioned volley past Oier Olazabal to break the deadlock.
Two minutes before half-time Messi doubled the lead, this time after a mistake by Ruben Rochina on the halfway line.

Rochina’s pass went straight to Sergio Busquets, who immediately sent Messi racing through to fire through the legs of Oier and into the net.

Levante had clearly not learned their lesson as, two minutes after the restart, another loose pass in midfield handed Barca their third.

This time Suarez led the charge before feeding Jordi Alba, who drove the ball across the area for Messi to sweep home.

Messi completed his treble on the hour, Suarez bulldozing his way down the left before crossing to Arturo Vidal, who laid the ball back for the Argentinian to tap in.

Levante’s already slim hopes of replicating last season’s scoreline disappeared when they lost Erick Cabaco to a red card 14 minutes from the end.

Instead Gerard Pique helped himself to the fifth, wandering the length of the field exchanging passes as he went before wrapping up the scoring.

Why do you think so? Levante are actually doing OK.
It's just that Barça and Messi in particular are on fire.

Thank goodness that there is a break in the CL otherwise many teams would have been embarrassed by this Barça team's current form.

I wouldn't laugh if I were you.

I don't think you saw the game.
Levante were decent and have been on form recently beating Real Madrid away a few weeks ago. They were second only to Barcelona on points won, after they switched managers.
They also beat Barca 5-4 last season.

BTW, Levante are right now ranked 8th in La Liga, way higher than Valencia which beat EPL's 6th ranked team in the CL 4 days ago. :taunt: :D
So you can imagine what they would do to ManU's fist team.

Please stick to the EPL and SPL.

Tell that to Higuain who single handedly denied Messi a WC and a CONMEBOL

Is Barca better than PSG,City,Liverpool and Juve on current form?

No team in the world would want to face Barça right now.
To answer your question, City and Liverpool would have the best chance but like Barça, those teams have defensive problems.

Barça has problems defending their wings. So any team that is good at wing play will cause them problems. Lyon are very good on the wings but will probably be outscored.

Liverpool are very inaccurate from the wings (except for Trent Alexander-Arnold). That leaves City who would probably be outscored by Barça.

How about "IF" Messi landed in the EPL and not La Liga? This man is crap outside of the Barca setting. All great players like challenges but not this one. Meanwhile, his followers claim he is the best ever. Every WC comes and goes and we are still waiting for him.

The same man who single-handedly qualified Argentina for the World Cup with his hattrick?
The same guy who scored against 9ja at the World Cup?

This is a team sport and when teammates don't rise up to be counted, the team goes nowhere.
Diego Maradona had a good supporting cast around him. Not so for Messi.

The AFA is at times worse than the NFF at handling the Argentine NT.
That's why Messi, quit international footie (he knew that the conditions were not ideal), but they begged him to come back and he did. Without him, Argentina would not have made it to Russia.

Have you ever actually seen Messi outside the Barca setting beside the Argentina NT? Did you see him with the Argentina youth teams?

Haters are going to hate .... :)
