Tottenham have arguably been the best example of the perfect paradigm of late and not a trophy to show for it. United, in leaning heavily on Rashford, have denied themselves the necessary 20-goal pedigree up top, to be in contention, Was there anyone in City's ranks who would've benched or bettered those starting now? Sancho has dazzled for Dortmund, but anyone suggesting he starts ahead of Sterling or Bernardo is being mischievous. The less said of Diaz the better. Bit part, cut runs, 10-15 minutes here and there. The fact is, when the quality ahead is that good, it makes the breakthrough a near sisyphean task for the neophytes. Mahrez, one of the standout performers a couple seasons back, is struggling for games, Leroy Sane, who wipes the floor with the aforementioned teens, shares the same struggle. The game has changed, the stakes are higher than ever. The norm will soon be that of youngsters leaving England to develop on the continent, only to be brought back as finished products for 100s of millions. United - Pogba for example.
