Guardiola asks Man City to sign Atletico's Thomas Partey
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Parteythis summer, according to El Gol Digital, and believes the powerhouse could potentially be the new Yaya Toure.
At the age of 25, Thomas is finally establishing himself as one of the first names on Diego Simeone’s team sheet, after spending time out on loan at Mallorca and Almeria in recent seasons.
The Ghana international is a dynamic player with a thunderbolt of a shot in his locker, although he is hardly lacking in technical ability either while his ability to play in defence has also made him a very useful presence at Atletico.
According to El Gol Digital, Guardiola wants to bring Thomas to the Etihad this summer and has asked the Premier League champions to prioritise a deal, though it will likely cost a club-record £68 million thanks to a hefty release clause in his contract.
The report even claims that Guardiola sees Thomas as the second coming of Yaya Toure, the former Ivory Coast international who won league titles under the Spaniard at both Barcelona and Manchester City.

He'd do well at City. Delighted to see his career go from strength to strength. If only Bredas could be as happy about Naija boys doing well as we are with their boys doing well...

If you engage your brain then you'll know those who crucify and bury don't believe in "second coming", that's why they crucify and buryRawlings wrote:why should he when he knew there would be a second coming?pajimoh wrote:So Pep did not check his vital signs but decide to bury him abi?Rawlings wrote:The first one was already "crucified" when Pep arrivedpajimoh wrote:The "second coming" of Yaya Toure? PEP just sees Africans as work house.. Use and dump.. Perhaps Thomas could be tempted by City riches...I just see Thomas as a back for Fernandihno.. Thomas should just weigh his options..

Hmm.. I guess there is no youth player to promote.

Nigeria is just big for nothing, yes I am aware China/India produces far less superstars than Nigeria.
Its amazing the level of talent coming out of Ghana.

The talented is there, no doubt but naija players just make decisions based on money, that's why they don't mind playing in the english second division, China or saudia. It is amazing how many of our core players are in div 2! Our captain even plays for a division 2 club!

No where near Yaya Toure but certainly a capable replacement for aging Fernandinho. Thomas has vastly improved over the years and developed into a quality central midfielder. He will be a good fit if this rumor has any merit.Rawlings wrote:Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Parteythis summer, according to El Gol Digital, and believes the powerhouse could potentially be the new Yaya Toure.

Certainly pays more than most la liga teams. He has a point except for our captain who already played over 10 years at the highest level and won everything in football for club & country.ANC wrote:gochino wrote:The talented is there, no doubt but naija players just make decisions based on money, that's why they don't mind playing in the english second division, China or saudia.
