Among the Top seeded teams and their star players we have
Egypt - MO Salah
Senegal - Sadio Mane
Morocco- star player is Ziyech of Ajax
Nigeria-- star player Iwobi(though the jury is out on this one)
Cameroon- Bassagog
Ivory Coast- Zaha and Nicholas Pepe are the star players
Ghana- star man is Partey
Algeria- Mahrez.

And then we have the usual dark horses like DRC, Tunisia, Zimbabwe etc

If teams are relying on star players and lacking a collective then they are just hoping,Drogba,Weah and Yeboah never won an Afcon and I think there’s a few more causalities to come who claim the star player tag!

The AFCON is probably the most competitive continental tournament, in that the top 6 teams in Africa are so evenly matched. Not like CONCACAF in which Mexico and US are clear favorites; or CONNMEBOL in which Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Uruguay are clearly above the rest.

Not much separates the teams you listed with the exception of Cameroun and Algeria which I think are the weakest of the 8.

"Empty stadiums" is a result of POVERTY all over the continent
The people who would have travelled to watch matches are too poor to even afford one decent meal a day

In Europe, butchers, security guards, gardeners, waiters, bouncers etc take a month off to go watch their countries play.

BTW, Nigerians are lining up for French visas to go watch the Falcons in France and yet the Egyptian embassy is empty

Bein are the only U.S. broadcaster that bother to pay for African football rights. They also broadcast the African Champions League.

We sadly have to endure Fox showing the Women's World Cup.

Nigeria is the most talented team and should win. Egypt is vastly overrated, all they have is Salah and he is not that great. I fear Mane more than Salah.

If Rohr unlead the young talented forwards...they will decimate any team they face.
