The WWC team should be much more competitive...

This is our Team B, which assembled on a Monday, played against a male youth team on Saturday and left for Abidjan the following Monday (or Tuesday), and was playing its FOURTH game in 8 days. Only 7 members of this squad was deemed good enough for the pre-WWC camp in Austria, and very few (if any) of those is likely to log a significant amount of minutes at the WWC. In fact, even the Golden Boot winner in this WAFU tournament, Uchenna Kanu (who btw led all US collegians this past season with 57 goals in 24 games, although she plays in the NAIA. See Sports Illustrated snippet below) is unlikely to start in France if everyone else is injury-free and fit, assuming she even makes the team.

Though we are in a tough group, I suspect this will be a more interesting WWC for us than most.

Gotti, I must say I am quite impressed with your proficiency of the Super Falcons team . Thanks for dropping all the knowledge on this team.
2 of the finest indigenous coaches Nigeria ever had lost in a space of 4 days. Dear Lord, is this a sign that you are taking away from us what we failed to appreciate? I pray for forgiveness of our sins. I pray for the humility to recognize our wrongs and the humbleness and wisdom to right our ways.

REST IN PEACE COACH STEPHEN KESHI!!! REST IN PEACE COACH AMODU SHAIBU!!!

They worked harder than us and been more composed all over the field.

Have we even create a shot on target?
I said that in the semi-final and I was being crucified for it.

What has one got to do with the other?
So if a team plays poorly in ONE game, it presupposes it plays poorly in ALL games?

As I noted at the end of the game, this was a mostly uninspiring performance (frankly, the only subpar performance throughout the tournament, but not altogether unexpected from a team hastily-assembled with one week of training, playing its 4th game in 8 days), and yet if you followed the game thread the Falcons DOMINATED possession in the first-half (only conceding from a well-taken spot-kick in the dying minutes of the half - that should not even have been a foul in the first-place). Apparently the goal gave the Ivoiriens a boost in confidence playing in front of their enthusiastic home support, and they frankly had a much better second-half showing (which seems to be when Charlie joined the proceedings). What the Falcons did show last night however is the HEART OF CHAMPIONS!
