FA CUP & EPL. Are they still competitive ?
5 kindo with 10mins to go at the FA cup final. Good for Man City but has money ruined the competitiveness that made the English league so attractive to the rest of the world?
We already know that the top 5 will be almost the same next yr as it is this year, money will go long way in determining who finishes where but it’ll be the same teams in the top 5. Even the relegation battle that was once exciting is no longer because the bottom teams get beat so bad by the top 5 that they’re relegated without much of a fight.
It’s all becoming rather boring tbh. For the next 5 yrs Arsenal and Tottenham will finish 3,4 or 5 and man city, Liverpool and united will be 1 ,2 or 3.

Are you saying Chelsea won't be in the top 5?

It's not fun really. But I blame the other so called big teams not taking the FA cup serious

Re: FA CUP & EPL. Are they still competitive ?
United took it serious...strong starting lineup by comparison to Wolves. Bashed up.

But City did have an easier run to the final, they didn't meet any top 6 side.
United met Chelsea and Arsenal, whilst City was going through the likes of Swansea, Brighton, Newport, and even got seriously lucky against Swansea when an upset was on the cards.
Anyway you can only beat what's put in front of you, so they took their chance

Top 6 again. When did the FA cup become a top 6!tournament? Used to be that teams could come out of the championship or lower Epl and get to the finals, now the moneybags have stopped that. When you line up a $1b worth of players you should win every trophy there is to win.benteke wrote:But City did have an easier run to the final, they didn't meet any top 6 side.

No i mean they didn't meet the kind of big teams in England that would normally cause them very serious problems.
Of the remaining dangerous teams there was Chelsea, Arsenal, United. And it was to their advantage that they didn't even get drawn against any of those sides.
Meeting any one of those and anything could have happened.
Swansea was a scary affair and City needed the ref. But then you make your luck.

United have won 13 PL titles out of 27 seasons, that's almost half of all titles won in the PL era, nobody was talking about competitiveness then, now that others are looking to dominate you have people fixing their mouths talking about lack of competitiveness. Just admit that your team isn't dominating anymore and don't look to dominate in the near future, the only hope is to beg the authorities to change the rules so you can dominate again maybe that will be "competitive" enough for some.

The people who are talking about lack of competitiveness are making an errorMr. Piffington wrote:United have won 13 PL titles out of 27 seasons, that's almost half of all titles won in the PL era, nobody was talking about competitiveness then, now that others are looking to dominate you have people fixing their mouths talking about lack of competitiveness. The EPL will become even more competitive.
Once Arsenal, Chelsea and United fix their issues, which is soon rather be than later, that title will be exchanging hands.
Liverpool was 4th last season and will also be winning the title soon.
Arsenals has been winning the FA Cup of late
Re: FA CUP & EPL. Are they still competitive ?
The EPL was decided on the last day by a single point. The FA Cup quarter-finalists included Wolves, Watford, Millwall, Crystal Palace, Swansea and Brighton. Predictable perhaps. Yes, the final was one-sided, largely due to Garcia’s mismanagement of the second-half, Watford didn’t need to go gung-ho from the off. The scoreline was as much a reflection of the in-game management as it was the gulf in class.
Re: FA CUP & EPL. Are they still competitive ?
Lucky is not the word. It was robbery. Even though VAR was in use for other FA Cup matches, for some odd reason it was not used in City's match at Swansea. Net effect: City (who were losing 0-2 with 20 minutes left) got back in the game after the ref incorrectly awarded them a hotly disputed penalty. Then Aguero scored the winner from an offside position. 2 "goals" that should have been disallowed.
