Nigeria's Quest for Championship Ends + Ratings

But Algeria showed its strength pinning Nigeria down in one half and saw two close opportunities missed. First, Feghouli shot too high from inside the box and then Algeria saw a powerful shot come off the bar. Clearly, Nigeria was living dangerously. With 4 minutes of injury time about to expire, Ndidi fouled just outside the box. Mahrez stepped up to curve a shot superbly around the wall and beyond Akpeyi's dive to decide the game.
In the end, Gernot Rohr's decision to hold on to his substitution opportunities will be questioned. Perhaps, he should have brought in options in attack? Was he holding on to the subs in order to take advantage of their freshness in a plausible over time period? What exactly was he thinking?

The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. We are prone to overestimate how much we understand about the world and to underestimate the role of chance in events -- Daniel Kahneman (2011), Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics
