On paper. All the big teams are gone. The pressure on the guys is going to be heavy from now on, The Angola game just became even more pressure packed than before.

It is written. Really feeling like 2013.
The best defence and the best individual player.
But I’ll try not to get ahead of myself.

Let's focus and win this thing.

I don't want to be talking about this in ten years time, talking about what could have been.

Let's take every game as if it is the final.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

With Nigerians and their mouth-making, I hope the players remember the word - Humility. We saw how we were looking passed Denmark in '98 and what happened to us.

My only hope here is that the Angolans have actually been noisier than we have and quite disrespectful.

Peseiro is a prophet I swear. He said all this when he was hired.
The Angolan coach was the Youth Team Manager at Sporting CF while he was managing the main senior team. They know each other. Hopefully the old man prevails.

We are, but everyone thinks they have a chance.

Squad depth will now play a strong part in who wins. Angola and possibly Nigeria, will be without their first choice keepers. A lot of other teams will now start fielding 2nd choice players; i believe Mali and SA have injuries today, CIV will be sweating on Sangare. Thank goodness we are relatively injury free. We will need our key players fit; if we do we have a great chance.

Nigeria beat CIV and Cameroon. That’s a strong statement all by itself. It is Angola who ought to be really worried🤔❗️

Cheers.

Shhhhhh I prefer to fly under the radar here....

Having said that Im scared of Angola and Guinea...and Ivory coast has an axe to grind
We have some solid quarter finalists.. Mali , SA , Cabo Verde and DRC are not here to sell groundnuts
We have a good chance but we have some serious obstacles ahead

Are some of you still being delusional, the so called heavy weights ( all 5 teams that were in the World-cup) have all been knocked out. The 8 teams left are all capable of winning the AFCON.

Agreed! There are no small teams in African soccer anymore. Having said that, I like what I see with our team right now.

Offense comes and goes, but defense is sustainable over time. I like our defensive mindset right now and this is how we will win this championship. This is how we will qualify for the world cup. Defense is not pretty and can be frustrating at times, but this is how championships are won. The icing on the cake will be if VO and the rest of the attacking crew come to life. Statistically, we are due for an offensive explosion.

Scary for me is the regularity with which "top ranked" teams have been tumbling from the tournament. I thought Senegal vs Ivory Coast, Egypt vs DR Congo and Morocco vs South Africa were obvious wins for Senegal, Egypt and Morocco respectively. See all the egg I have been wiping from my face. I even asked my wife to please not call us "top ranked". This is how scared I am.

With Uzoho in goal, we might be the weakest. That guy drops our squad rating to -50. Let’s hope that Nwabali recovers.
