Rohr's celebration of "golden bronze"

Post by cic old boy »

The third place playoff is the match no semi-finalist wants to play in. Nigeria and Tunisia had to settle for this meaningless battle for the wooden spoon after succumbing to Algeria and Senegal last Sunday. You wouldn’t have known this from how coach Gernot Rohr celebrated at the final whistle, grinning from ear to ear like the cat who got the cream. He always said his target was to reach the semis and it appeared, especially against Algeria on Sunday, that the coach was limiting the Super Eagles by his low expectations.

What I find really baffling is that Pinnick is always talking about his ambitions of winning trophies and what not, yet he is satisfied with a coach with very low expectations of his own team and no interest in winning trophies. The fact Pinnick can’t see this from all the numerous Rhor’s comments and acts is just unbelievable. He is such a moron.

This is one reason I think it's time to find a new coach. I don't like this idea of playing us down as underdogs. We're not underdogs to any team in Africa and if he can't understand this then he needs to go.

Pinnick is a powerful figure in the NFF but even he can't unilaterally make the decision to keep Rohr.
Winners do it the right way.

Rohr needs to coach small teams like Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Ghana. His style and low expectations will work there

Trust me those team will be foolish to hire him,he is a bad coach. Madagascar turn him down several time, his wife is from there he own few investment there.Yet those Mada don't value him as a coach but inlaw. He is not a good coach for at team.

You’re the same person that would had been clowning him if he had lost to Tunisia. The fact is that any normal human being considering the situation would classify this tournament as a success. A team that failed to qualify for back to back nations cup returns and get 3rd place is a success

Broken record. Not the first time.

We won the trophy just 6 years ago.

You guys love to act like there is a great history of winning in Nigeria. We only recently came of an almost 20 year championship drought for only our third AFCON.

So how come we beat Algeria a few years ago? Was that a fluke? I know the super eagles are minnows and we have only won the cup three times

They were going through a crisis in their FA, it seems everybody has forgotten how they were changing coaches and FA personnel anyhow. They didn’t just lose to us they were last in the group. That was 2 years ago, a lot has changed and they’ve gotten a stable coach and FA now. They have been the best team in this tournament by far not just against us. The way you guys talk is like footie is simple math, we won two years ago so we should win again. Just like we couldn’t even qualify 2 years ago but came in 3rd 2 years later, these things happen, a NT is fluid, Algeria is just coming into their own at the right time, give them some credit while also holding our squad to improve on this achievement.

Oh makes sense now, so as long as they get a new coach and they don’t have crisis in their FA, they must always beat Nigeria. So the SE can only beat Algeria if Algeria is going throug FA crisis. Sad what rohr has turned you folks into, cowards that can’t seem to make any sense. Continue to create excuses for the white clown
