Iwobi needs competion. Who do we have on the Horizon?

1, Nwakali. Might not be interested in football
2, Lookuman. Should we beg this guy? He was seen hanging around lagos recently.
3, Eze. Eze isi usilessi. Repeat after me.... Eze isi....

How about Kalu? can he be converted to play AM? He's got the skills and intelligence but can he think like one? Its strange but our most skilled youngsters now seem to be playing on the flanks these days. who else is out there?

This is what supporting a coach like Rohr can do to you. It eventually robs one of a football brain where it once existed.

Ol boy, Arsenal is on tour in the US. Leave us alone here and face your brainy team in their quest to qualify for Europa by the skin of their teeth. go onload your brainy ideas on them an GTFOH!

The boy is never gonna smell an England jersey so he'll probably agree to play for us.

onyekuru---------------Lookman---------------Chukweze

--------------------Ndidi---------------Nwakali

love to see if this would work. We'd be better able to keep the ball but wont be as physically strong.

that line up will surely bring you goals, the future is right... Rohr has got the organizational skills already, but he needs to get to work on his tactical flexibility, and with the right players already coming up to continue the rebuilding process, he might end up winning another major trophy before he leaves.

Nwakali shouldn't be considered till he gets more playing time at his club. He can stay with the U23.

Eze is a really good prospect. Hope he chooses Nigeria. Igbekeme of Real Zaragoza and Ejuke who just signed for Heerenven are other players worth looking at.

For the CM/DM role, Azuibuike should be invited for our next game. Semi Ajayi, Mikel Agu, Kingsley Michael, and Tom Dele Bashiru are other options. Seen enough of Ogu. Think we need new options to compete with Ndidi and Etebo.

Eze doesn't hav the option of choosing England, he will never sniff the jersey. The other 2 are not CAM. Igbekeme is is a CM/DM and ejuke is a LW. next

Iheanacho's best performances for Nigeria have come in that position behind the striker. If he ever gets his head right, and his game back on track he'd be a good option there from the start or from the bench.

Iwobi is of course the first choice right now. He has everything you need in that position to be an actual top class player, but doesn't but it together often enough.

All these guys that won’t sniff a three lions jersey still try to play for England at all youth team levels until they no longer qualify, so maybe they should be considered for next years U23 Olympic Squad if we qualify!

Yep Iwobi, Iheanacho , Eze and Etebo too. .
Something tells me Kalu may also be able to play the position well

Chuwkwueze can actually play that position well. Forget about his dribbling, just for a moment pay attention to his ball distributing sense. Anyway, Nigeria does not to need have an AM. 442 would have actually serviced that team well. igaho would have been more effective with a partner like Chukwueze or Henry. But anyway, besides the olympics when did nigeria ever win any thing with an AM (OKOCHA)?

Nacho's first touch and ball control is too subpar for that role.

Which calls the question to the fore, what Marvel end game qualities will an AM bring...presumably?

I think we should keep an eye on Chuks Aneke this season. He has recently signed for Championship side Charlton. He has been very good for MK Dons at the lower levels (for a consistent level of time), pace, power, skill, good passing and goals. Not sure how he will perform at a higher level though or if he is even good enough for the SE, so the jury still very much out but I think he has the attributes for the "AM" role.

Personally, not sure the SE necessarily need an AM particularly as there are few AM's out there at the current required level needed (IMO). Creativity can come from different areas across the pitch.

On the AM issue, we are back to the pre 1993 days before JJ Okocha showed up with that free-kick against Algeria in Lagos. There is a vacancy for our AM in the SE that cannot be filled right now until the right candidate (a new face) shows up.

Every foot team has a vacancy in every position until the right player shows up. I’m sure Messi will be replaced as soon as the right player shows up. That’s just lazy thinking.

@Leaf, why the emphasis on an AM, moreso in the age of the two anchoring midfielders? There are other avenues for creativity to exploit. Trent AA Arn Andersen springs to mind.

We don’t need a playmaker, an Ozil or a JJ. We need an Adepoju or Oliha. Box to box. We don’t need one domineering dribbler. We need a visionary and an effective passer and distributor. He could be a Yaya (Aribo) or an Oliha (Nwakali) type player.

Much more than that, Nigeria needs an identity and playing philosophy.
