We are monitoring Kano Pillars - Kjetil Zachariassen

Post by Senator WIRES »

Head coach of Asante Kotoko Kjetil Zachariassen has stated they are monitoring the progress of Kano Pillars ahead of their CAF Champions League encounter.

The Porcupines will travel to Nigeria on August 10 to face the Aiteo Cup winners before hosting them a week later in Kumasi.

Speaking to Footballmadeinghana.com on his team preparations, the former Ashantigold gaffer revealed they are monitoring their Nigerian counterpart as much as they can ahead of the game.

“We are monitoring them as much as we can, they played the Nigerian FA cup final.

“Kano Pillars are strong inoffensive :veryangry: but possibly we will be on top of our game because we have been preparing for the past three weeks”

  CAF Champions League: Kano Pillars beat Kotoko 3-2 in first leg
Kano Pillars had to fight from 2-1 down to beat Asante Kotoko 3-2 in the CAF Champions League.

The qualifying match which was played at the Saani Abacha Sports Stadium saw Kano Pillars score first in the 11th minute through Rahaqqu Adam.

They held on to the lead till halftime. Kotoko clearly listened to words of their coach Kjetil Zachariassen as they equalized in the 48th minute through Justice Blay.

Kotoko went ahead for the first time in the game as Godfred Asiamah made it 2-1 to Kotoko in the 64 minutes.

Kotoko could not hold their lines and Pillars drew 2-2 in the 66 minutes through Victor Dennis.

Kano Pillars then got the all-important goal in the 77 minutes through Nyima Nekabari.

The second leg will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium on August 23, 2019.

Head coach of Kano Pillars, Ibrahim Musa, has promised Asante Kotoko a stiffer challenge in their CAF Champions League return leg fixture, regardless of the venue.

Last Saturday, Pillars succeeded in defeating Kotoko 3-2 in Kano, Nigeria, and despite conceding two goals at their backyard, the coach believes his team has what it takes to force a second streak win.

The Porcupine Warriors will host Pillars next Sunday, August 25 in the second leg, and according to coach Musa, the venue will have no telling effect on their game plan.
And speaking on Nhyira FM, he said, “We allowed Asante Kotoko SC to score us two goals after taking the lead but we fought hard to beat them 3-2.”

He added, “We are coming to Ghana to beat Asante Kotoko as we did to Al Ahly SC in Egypt after a one-all draw in a 1st Leg at Sani Abacha Stadium.”

If Kotoko win in the Kumasi tie, they will face the winner of the Haifa FC versus Etoile Sportive du Sahel.
