Coach Imama Amapakabo of the Nigeria U23 team has called up 35 players picked from various teams in Nigeria for their upcoming Africa U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers game against Sudan.

In the list made public by the technical crew, the coach stuck with some players who were part of the team that defeated Libya 4-2 on aggregate to progress to this round of qualifiers.

Akwa United fullback Etboy Akpan, John Lazarus and Ebube Duru from Lobi Stars, Enyimba Stephen Manyo and Joshua Akpedje of MFM were among the players who were once again handed a chance by the coach of the team.

ThankGod Simon, the younger brother of Super Eagles winger Moses Simon made the list as part of the new players called up in the 35 man list of players who are expected in camp ahead of the September 5th away tie against Sudan before the reverse tie on the 10th in Nigeria.

Notables

Ndifreke Effiong called up after being in U23 team of 2016 and winning a bronze. Age eligible though.

I hope that Ndala Ibrahim is another player with same name and not the one who represented U17 eons ago. :rotf:

Ebube Duru, John Lazarus, Sunday Adetunji, William Ukeme, all familiar names locally.

Thankgod Simon (Younger brother of Moses Simon)

So this is the home-based group...
Presumably, they will train/screened until FB players join for the Sept games.

PS: Btw, Adamu Abubakar was the GK red-carded in the away tie against Libya.

Why did they invite 3SC player? How can a permanently relegated team have any quality player?

This is madness. This is why I detest local coaches. What is the point of being local and not been privy to such information.

Yea right. Let's continue to deceive ourselves. And a national youth coach should know better.
