BATTLE OF THE AMs: WHO WINS
Posted: Tue Aug 06, 2019 2:45 pm
NIgeria is very thin in the AM position. int he last AFCON, Iwobi was our best option for 10 with DM MIkel as backup.
This list is for only those playing in TOp League, and Top Tier 2 leagues so The likes of Nwakali would not be on this list.
Also, Ebere Eze would not be on this list becuase he has not pledged his future to Nigeria and only just got invited to England's U20.
The LIST
1. Joe Aribo (Rangers, Scotland/ Europa League): Joseph Oluwaseyi Temitope Ayodele-Aribo played for charlton Atheltic for 3 seasons (confirmed starter) before landing in Rangers this term. Regular first team football and scintilating performances would sure earn him a callup, in this position where we are very thin. He can also plays as a central midfielder and DM. He has pledged his international future to Nigeria.

2. Alex Iwobi (Arsenal, EPL/ Europa): Alex hot and cold. When hot, he is one of the best in the EPL. Would he tie down a regular spot in Arsenal and back it up with top performances? In a position where he doesnt seem to have enough competition in the SE, we rely on him for salvation.
3. Igboun (UFA, Russia): An attacking midfielder who also plays from the left wing for UFA. He is very skillful and a handful, he was the best thing in the Ufa squad. Was beginning to be the heart of Oliseh's SE until Oliseh bitched out. Another season of hot display this season should earn him a call to compete in the AM spot in the SE.
4. Hamdi Akujobi (Herenveen, Netherlands): He joined Herenveen last season but was with the U19. THis season, he has stepped up the senior team and even came in as a sub (Attacking Midfield) in the first league game this past weekend. He is a complete midfielder and can also play CM and DM. His dad was also a footballer in NIgeria, went for greener pastures in Netherland and is currently a football agent (was involved in Ejuke's deal. Hamdi was also in the U20 camp last year. A hot display in the dutch league this season would def see him get an SE callup like CHukwueze got one by mid-season in his first top pro season.
Some videos you that would help guage his skill.

5. Ahmed Isaiah (Gil Vicente, Portugal): this 23yr old midfielder has been a mainstay in the Portuguese D1 playing regualrly for 3 different teams since 2013. He joined Gil Vicente last season, played most of their matches and they gt promoted to the Portuguese premier league. He is an Attacking Midfielder and second striker. If he maintains his starting shirt in his team and plays massively, he would surely get a callup from Rohr who badly needs attacking Midfield options as backup to Iwobi.
Note: Samuel Kalu can play as an AM (done this 3 times last season), Chidera Ejuke (did also in Valarenga and mentioned it in this Herenveen unveiling interview), Etebo (his major position majority his life) and Samuel Chukwueze (Played this at the AFCON as a sub).
