Osimhen on the way to greatness

Post by cic old boy »

Osimhen is surely on his way to becoming Nigeria's goal machine, following in the footsteps of legends such as Thompson Usiyan and Rashidi Yekini.

Congrats on your first positive post on CE. Lets hope you don't jinx the boy like you did Nnamdi kanu and turned him into a public nuisance instead of the revolutionary he wanted to be.

For what he has achieved so far in his young career, Victor Osimhen is indeed on the way to greatness. Back in the day, I saw Oppong Weah playing for Mighty Barole of Liberia against IICC Shooting Stars and what made him memorable that day was his strong will to win. As if he was on a one-man mission, Weah ran himself to the ground and made himself a complete nuisance that day. The rest is history. What is so enduring about Osimhem is that his body language tells you that he wants to win so badly. His on-field gestures indicate that. Diego Maradona too had it as well. You can almost sense that Osimhen sulks in the dressing room after a bad game. He is still years and years away from his peak and I hope he stays away from serious injuries. That boy will be great.

He is still not strong enough though to play as a standalone targetman like say Romanu Lukaku, Olivier Giroud or Harry Kane. He has to develop the ability to hold off defenders with his back to goal, turn them and still get his shot away.
