Ebuehi Faces Precarious Future.....
What does the future holds for €700,000 Nigerian right-back at Benfica
https://www.owngoalnigeria.com/2020/01/ ... t-benfica/
January 15, 202001
Super Eagles right-back Tyrone Ebuehi made a switch to Portuguese side Benfica in 2018 following his wonderful display with Eredivisie side Ado Den Haag.
The move was hugely celebrated by the Super Eagles fans with many taking to soccer prediction site for one of more bets on his performances as it will give them the chance to see one of their favorite player’s features in the highly-rated Champions League competition.
The Netherlands-born fullback whom gooner news revealed had a great time with the Super Eagles during 2018 World Cup in Russia, and Benfica fans couldn’t wait to see the player report to camp ahead of the 2018-19 season.
Knowing well that he needed to win his new manager’s trust to become a regular figure in the team’s starting lineup, Ebuehi quickly team-up with his new club in preparation for the season.
Unfortunately, the player’s greatest nightmare resurfaced once again as he picked up a long-term injury which ruled him out of the whole season.
According to the club’s medical team in July 2018, the player, who is valued at €700k, suffered a Cruciate Ligament Rupture, which required him to remain in the recuperating room for 11 months and 20 days.
Ebuehi’s dream of becoming an undisputed starter in Benfica’s team was ultimately cut short by the unfortunate injury as he spent the whole season on the sideline.
Internationally, the injury ultimately prevented the young man from being Gernot Rohr’s favorite right back ahead of Ola Aina, who couldn’t make it to Russia due to intense competition for place in the team.
11 months later, the 24-year-old finally returned from injury with the hope of gate-crashing Rohr’s AFCON 2019 squad list but that was too late. In fact, the player suffered another short-term (muscle) injury which required 20 days of treatment.
However, Ebuehi finally returned to full fitness but was unable to feature in any of Benfica’s pre-season matches before the start of this current campaign.
With coach Bruno Lage already has his list of trusted players, Ebuehi was demoted to the youth team to continue the season — a decision that is totally unacceptable for a player of his potentials.
So far the 24-year-old has been a regular starter for Benfica B side but he’s yet to open his goal account. Considering Benfica’s form, Tyler P Williams of gooner news reckons that it could be difficult to see Ebuehi make his first-team debut before the end of the campaign.
As for the Nigeria national team, Gernot Rohr obviously rates the attack-minded fullback but it remains to be seen if he will be handed a recall to the team due to his lack of first team actions.
Ola Aina, on the contrary, has become an undisputed starter in the team and his form for Roma has equally boosted his reputation as one of the best players at Rohr’s disposal.
Chidozie Awaziem, who has been wonderful as a makeshift right-back, is also an important and regular player at Spanish side CD Leganes and he is unlikely to be dropped by Rohr.
As things stand, Ebuehi’s future for both club and country looks a bit gloomy and he needs to find a solution as soon as possible. Should he force a move out of Benfica to save his future? Only time will tell.
His side will be returning to action this weekend with our soccer prediction site, you can be guaranteed wining some couple of more bets and be smiling to bank every Monday morning!

A cruciate is a very serious injury. Takes a lot to come back from that. He needs to take it one step at a time.

Good thing, though, is he can make a high level comeback from such an injury.heavyd wrote:A cruciate is a very serious injury. Takes a lot to come back from that. He needs to take it one step at a time.

Didn't know he was that old, 24? He just has to keep playing and doing his best. This season may be a wash but he will definitely get another chance with SE and go from there. They know what he can do, he just has to get back to it. No worries if he's playing and progressing.

I know right, what a stupid comment. The YeyeMan wrote:So far the 24-year-old has been a regular starter for Benfica B side but he’s yet to open his goal account.
Since when did a wing backs goal account matter, especially since coming back from a bad injury.
The most important news for Tyronne is that he has remained healthy and is playing regular (even if team B) football so is gaining match fitness.
I hope Rohr calls him up for one of the future friendlies on the agenda. He needs exposure now so we can see how recovered he is now.

24 years old is still very young. Its not even peak level for a wing back.felarey wrote:Didn't know he was that old, 24? He just has to keep playing and doing his best. Had thought he could play U23 not just SE. Was thinking he could benefit if we had qualified for the Olympics.charlie wrote:24 years old is still very young.
