Good game by Calvin Bassey

Liverpool, European Champions 2005.

We watched this very boring video, 500 times, of Sacchi doing defensive drills, using sticks and without the ball, with Maldini, Baresi and Albertini. We used to think before then that if the other players are better, you have to lose. After that we learned anything is possible – you can beat better teams by using tactics." Jurgen Klopp

How was he?
Another player I’m looking at to make a difference to the SE midfield.

Bassey is a good addition to SE but to claim he's better than Ekong is ludicrous. I'd call him for pre WC friendlies if we qualify He's more ready as a LB than a CB. He did well last week bs Celtic going forward but almost gave away a hatrick defending, Bring him on slowly.

Bassey was okay last night but he is not better than what we currently have from Ekong, to Omeruo, to Amaziem, at least not yet.

Aribo was just okay. I didn’t like his casual strolling around sometimes. He needs to put more energy into his play.

So basically it sounds like we need a clear step-up from the level we’ e got right now.
We don’t need more of the same, but better.
Much better.

Bassey is young and his trajectory looks very good, there's no doubt that if and when he is given the chance with the SE, the boy will deliver the goods... the Ekong and Omeruo you're tap dancing for haven't even seen a minute of football at lowly clubs like Watford and Leganes for that matter...when will you guys start doing better with your standards as fans?

I guess it’s time to start looking more closely at Ozone and Ndah becos Omeruo, Ekong, Balogun dem are close to, if not past their sell-by dates.
The problem is the experience needed for CD positions and these new guys are only just learning.

Ekong, Balogun and Omeruo are on the way out but as long as they are not injured next month, I would expect 2 of the 3 to start. It would be foolish and suicidal to start with the new kids on the block who haven’t played together in a single SE match.
